Canyon Lake Boy’s Track Breakdown: Relays

The Hawks have a good group of guys running the relays. Pretty simple synopsis…

Canyon Lake beat there all-time best in all three relays at the Tiger Relays in Dripping Springs over a week ago.

The Mile Relay was brought down enough to give this foursome a chance to make State.

Both of the other two relays might need some good hand offs to maximize a time that would have a chance to make the next level.

Canyon Lake won all three events last season and this foursome has been together all year and have a good balance and work well together.

Eduardo Covarrubias, Doug Hubnik, Daniel Camarillo, and Zach Henshaw look to be peeking right at a good time to bring home some medals.

Below is the run down for the Relays as well as the projected finish of this year’s District 26-3A Meet.

4×100 Meter Relay:

Canyon Lake has the best time this year, but Fredericksburg will have a strong challenge. These two teams are the only schools to break the 44 second barrier.

The equalizer for this run is the hand offs. A bad exchange can cost you the race, so even having the best time does not guarantee a win.

4×200 Meter Relay:

Once again CL had their best relay run in their last competitive race in Dripping Springs. The Hawks have a half second lead over Bandera with almost two seconds over the other district squads.

The hand-off is not as important in this run, but still could cost enough time to make you nervous.

But at this writing this will be a two team race with Canyon Lake and Bandera.

4×400 Meter Relay:

Probably the most exciting race in a track meet. Canyon Lake improved almost five seconds in their last meet.

This has been a back and forth competition with Fredericksburg as both schools have had the lead this season.

At this writing, the Hawks enjoy a three second lead, which should be enough and a couple of more seconds off could get this race to the State Meet.
