Canyon Lake Sports Awards

Canyon Lake had several sports banquets last week and The ReSporter would like to give you the scoop on who did what.

Last Thursday night CL had golf, baseball, and track teams in attendance at the Hawk gym, where the coaches and parents had the opportunity to hear about their sons and daughters and give them the accolades that were well deserved.

BASEBALL:

Logan Felch

“Future looks bright,” Head Coach Trent Dunavant started as he rallied the team for their awards. “This was the hardest working group and it looks very promising for next year. Senior night went very fast with only one player. We are very young and I’m excited for next year.”

GOLF:

  • Matt Young had a 79 average score and will be going to Texas Lutheran
  • Skyler Tschoepe Second Team
  • Garrett Winters Second Team
  • Matt Young Second Team
  • Katy Platt made First Team District and was the first Canyon Lake golfer to make Regions.
  • Kayla Carpin Second Team District
  • All three girl golfers made Academic All District Which included Katie DeHaven who just missed the Second Team Dist. honors.

TRACK and FIELD:

Jordan Anderson taking a Stand

Head Coach Lacey Lambert said, “There were more Junior Varsity girls than wehave ever had this year and we scored more points in the District Track Meetwith the Junior Varsity.”

“It was a strong indicator on how we have improved, I’m very proud of this group of girls and Marisa Ellis for qualifying for State. It was our second year in a row to have a girl qualify for State which was a great accomplishment.”
