Six-man football is one of the toughest games to have a legitimate idea on how good opposing teams might be.

Many times you can’t find out much from UIL 2A and 3A schools, much less for teams that represent a much smaller enrollment and then add the vast land in Texas and you have teams that could be facing each other during playoffs that could rival traveling three or four states in the Northeast USA.

One thing we do know about Geneva, they are only 30 miles from Bracken and you can deduce or have a better idea of their strength, but it still is not an exact science.

Another item we know about this Eagle team is their record. They bring an unblemished record and have played an UIL club and beat them handily in Rochelle by 44 points.

This team has played two regulation games while Bracken has mercy ruled their opponents and last week only played 11 minutes before Brenham Christian had to throw in the towel based on not having enough players left after starting the game with nine on their roster.

The record for the teams Geneva has played is 10-6, while this Warrior team has taken a week off and has played teams that have won three games total while losing seven.

Bracken is ranked third in the State while Geneva is coming in at fifth. The Eagles could easily be ranked higher but this is their first year in Division I for TAPPS and so their power ranking was not as high based on the lower competition from seasons past.

The Eagles nest is full with over 15 players on their roster giving them an advantage just in the number of bodies. Based on what happened last week, that can become a big advantage with players not having to play both sides of the ball or playing positions they might not be familiar with.

Geneva will have an old pro at Quarterback, Marical Brock had 1917 yards passing with 37 touchdowns. He did throw seven interceptions, but when you factor in 198 passes then you can see that Brock was pretty accurate last season.

His favorite target will be WR Chris Budde who caught 56 passes for 922 yards and 18 touchdowns through the air last year.

Comparing those numbers to Eli Achilles, then you have a receiver who doubled the amount of yards Achilles had total in throwing last season with 470 yards.

Of course, you should also know that Bracken likes to run the ball and they do it very well. This season the Warriors have three players over 200 yards rushing in Preston Koch, Davis Scott, and Achilles.

Here is the skinny on a game that has the last two schools in Division I without a loss for TAPPS.

Geneva will remind many Warrior fans of Logos Prep with their speed, but they will also be able to bring a lot of players at you and punish you by running the ball. Which Logos Prep was inadequate at, as you saw more of their players running from Warriors as fast as they could run to the goal post.

Bracken takes that mascot name seriously and will be Warriors against this Eagle squad. Geneva has not played a team that will hit you as hard as BCS.

We know that because their are very few teams with the braun that Bracken possesses in six-man football.

This Geneva team will not be beaten when Bracken gets off the bus and so you will have a battle of titans literally in this match.

Head Coach Lloyd Fields said it best, “If I was not a coach, then this would be a game I would pay to go see.”

Bracken has some injuries they are still nursing and they will not have as many helmets in the game, but one thing you can take to the bank…..Bracken will leave a deposit at the window.

Good Luck Warriors.
