Bracken Christian is now in the part of their schedule that will not have a lot of resistance as far as going more than two quarters in any given game.
SA Lutheran does not have a home field and so they have the added burden with being on the road for all of their games.
Their record for the three teams played so far is a respectable 9-5 season. In the past SA Lutheran has struggled to score and this might be a more potent scoring team, but The ReSporter would think that they would not be able to score more than Sugar Land Logos Prep’s 20 points against BCS earlier this season.
The ReSporter could not find any stats for any of SA Lutheran games and so, we will just highlight the Warriors in this Pre/Game article. Afterall it is Homecoming for Bracken.
Bracken has not had a loss this early in the season since 2009 when they lost a season opening game against Austin Hill Country.
There were other fall out from the rare loss last week. BCS was working on a 22 road game winning streak. How about the last time the Warriors lost a road game was in 2007 on the second game of the season. The loss was against Dickinson Pine Drive, 40-39.
Bracken has played a total of 64 games since that game was played.
BCS also had their 10 game District winning streak come to an end that spanned three years.
Bracken has had a potent offense this year as they have averaged 360 yards per game on the ground. That average is better than the years when Grady Achilles was the workhorse in the backfield.
Last year Bracken averaged 272 yards, and so you can see how well the Warriors have continued their ground game.
The three turnovers were the first miscues of the year in last week’s game. That will have to be an item the Warriors will have to improve on.
That will be the major focus for this team as they go through an easier time on their schedule. Along with not having any major injuries.
BCS will have four games against San Antonio schools in the next month and none of those teams have ever beaten Bracken.
Eleven games against the San Antonio schools and not only does BCS have a 11-0 record. Ten of those games have been Mercy games. The one game that went four quarters was in 2006 season and Bracken won one game that year and it was against SA Lutheran, 48-44.
The good news will be that a Homecoming dance will be able to start early. Enjoy!
