CL Girls Basketball Get COMFORTable, Win 62-24
Canyon Lake pounced on Comfort, 62-24 as the Hawks extended their record to 3-0, starting this year impressively.
There were several bright spots in this game. CL shot 82% from the field in the third quarter.
Their only two misses were three point attempts, while Canyon Lake controlled the boards. Amber Ramsey had eight points in this quarter.
The Hawks also had more steals than turnovers for this contest. Another 14 assists and a whopping 39 rebounds with 16 of those coming on the offensive side.
“We are more of a team and with this being my second year they are buying into the system,” Head Coach Mary Beth Gallagher said. “This year the team is more focused and with each game we are trying to get better.”
Canyon Lake had three players break double figures, Dulce Brown (10), Olivia Flores (11), and Ramsey (20).
Ramsey also had 14 rebounds for a double/double. A stat line that will look good on anyones resume:

Take that all in and you have a game where Ramsey had enough ornaments to put on her Christmas Tree.
The best ornament? No Turnovers…you can put that on top of that tree.
“Coach (Gallagher) has us coming in early on Saturday and we are working hard and giving 110% everyday,” Junior Ramsey said. “I have played with this group since my freshman year and we have had time to bond and connect.”
Flores also chimed in, “This year we have lots more experience and we mesh well. We are more of a family and that can’t be overused because we are there for each other.”
This was Comfort’s first game this season and Canyon Lake was playing their third game, so expecting a contest like this might be expected.
But for Canyon Lake a game like this will go a long way for building a case, that this team will be fun to watch this year.
The 2009 team would be the standard for this year’s Hawks. That team finished the year with an undefeated home court. This club is now 2-0 at home and hopefully more to come.
