CL Boys are in Championship game in Marion Tourney After Win

Canyon Lake more scores from todays Tournaments:

The Hawks Freshman team split their two games on Friday in Wimberley and will have a morning game Saturday which will decide what place they will be playing for that afternoon.

A win will have the CL Freshman playing for 3rd Place and a loss will have your Hawks playing for 5th Place.

The Freshman were led by Hayden Lee in their win over Gonzales as 11 players were able to get on in the scoring book.

A good all around game.

In their second game the opposite was true, everything that fell in their first game would not go through the hoop in the second game.

“We had good shots,” Coach John Barthels said. “We could not buy a basket in the second game.”

Canyon Lake Varsity Boys are now on a two game winning streak and will play in the Championship Game on Saturday at 3pm in the Marion Tournament.

The Hawks came out of fire in their night cap game against Stacey Eagles.

“Our biggest thing we got out of tonights game was our offense was working,” Head Coach Lucas Chapman said. “We were trying to hold on at the end and that took some of our aggression away. We are usually the team trying to scramble to get back into the game.”

Stacey won their earlier battle with Canyon Lake, but the Hawks had different ideas on how this game would end.

Caleb Kreiger was a target for the offense, as Stacey did not have a player that matched his size.

In Canyon Lake’s first game, Stacey had another tall player that was missing in tonights game, that one player gave Kreiger a lot more movement.

“I had a height advantage tonight,” Kreiger stated. “I knew that I would be able to score. We had a great game all around.”

Result was a convincing night for Kreiger as he poured in 28 points and helped the Hawks with double figure rebounds.

CL enjoyed a 13 point lead going into the fourth quarter and needed every bit of those points as Stacey staged a comeback, but still fell short by eight points.

Canyon Lake helped the Eagles cause with 11 turnovers in the fourth quarter, which was two more than the Hawks had during the first three stanzas.
