Soccer: Lady Hawks Start District 53-4A Tonight
Canyon Lake’ s Lady Hawks will invoke on their District Season that gives them a chance for making the playoffs.
With a district that has five teams and having four teams that can qualify for a longer season (playoffs), then you can conclude that there will be only one team that is out of that realm of going farther.
Looking at pre district games you have three teams that will be fighting for those two spots.
Dripping Springs and Schertz Clemens will be on top of the food chain and Canyon Lake will be fighting it out with Seguin and Wimberley.
All three teams (CL, Wimberley, and Seguin) played one common opponent this pre-season.
Floresville had this privilege of playing all three teams so you can have a small glimpse of each teams strength.
Canyon Lake was the one team that beat Floresville while Wimberley and Seguin were both shut out by the Jaguars.
Next, you need to see when these games were played to help in deciphering how district games might play out.
Floresville beat Seguin just last week, 4-0 in Matador stadium. So a home game loss for Seguin and also a recent game is a good barometer on how this team might play when they are on the field against your Hawks.
Floresville also won on the road against Wimberley, a much closer contest, 1-0 victory. This game was played one game before CL faced Jaguars.
That is important to assess since these games were about three weeks ago and personnel and other factors would need to be factored into this equation.
Canyon Lake won their game over Floresville and another added feather in the proverbial hat was this game being on the road.
The Hawks won convincingly 3-0 against this same team that had shut-out both Wimberley and Seguin.
Now on that face value of scores the conclusion would be that this Hawk team has a decent chance of finishing within that four team lineup for a chance in making some post season games.
Christy Fowler had a ‘Hat Trick’ in that contest scoring all three goals for your Hawks. Reyvin White had one assist in that scoring spree.
Wynne Clark was the goal keeper and had four saves in the game.
Dripping Springs and Schertz Clemens are both solid programs throughout their years and should be again this season, but now Canyon Lake will have a chance to nestle in for a chance to play some more games after district play is over.
Canyon Lake takes on Schertz Clemens tonight at Hawk Stadium and if you can’t make tonights game, then they will have their next three games at home.
Come and see this young team take a step into a realm that has not been in their vocabulary for the Hawks in almost two years…..Playoffs.
