Hawk’s Baseball have rough day in Llano Tournament

Southpaw Cody Powell

Canyon Lake had a bad day in Llano tournament on Thursday as they took it on the chin in games with Liberty Hill and Taylor.

In the game with Liberty Hill, CL could not solve their pitcher with a total of 13 strikeouts. When you only need your defense to field eight outs, then many times the end result will be a loss.

The Hawks did have enough base runners to do more damage, but the strikeout pitch would help the pitcher to survive for another inning.

Tyler Vinson, Travis Walker, and Peyton Sipila all ended with two hits while Sipila also led the team with two rbi’s.

Cody Powell had a rough game surrendering 10 hits and eight runs in this contest.

The Hawks were met by Sheriff Taylor in their double digit loss in the Llano Tournament.

This Taylor was not as nice as the Sheriff Taylor in Mayberry.

Canyon Lake could only scratch across two runs when Michael Brady knocked Daniel Camarillo in after he reached on one of six errors committed by Taylor.

Kyler Huff helped with the next run, when he roped a triple and set himself up for a score later that inning on a fielders choice out off the bat of Logan Felch.

Austin Headricks was brought up from Junior Varsity and pitched as this game was still in reach going into the fourth inning down by just two runs.

The flood gates opened up afterwards as Taylor scored 11 runs in their next three innings helping our friends from Mayberry to ease into their Sunday afternoon snooze.

Canyon Lake will continue this tournament in hopes of finding a win and staying dry based on weather.

If the rain prevails, then maybe Aunt Bea will be able to settle the team down with a nice meal as District 27-3A play will start in earnest next week.
