Eli Achilles is an All-Star
Senior Eli Achilles will be adding two more 6-Man Football games to his resume as this stand-out
player has been invited to play in two All-Star games this Summer.
Achilles (if you have forgotten) had accomplished many goals while playing for Bracken in his four years.
This young man was the QB in all four years of playing and excelled on the defensive side of the ball also.
Here are some honors made this past season:
For District:
First Team Offense: Running Back
First Team Defense: Linebacker
Offensive MVP and Defensive MVP
No player had ever accomplished the double dip with those letters MVP before, from both sides of the ball.
For State:
First Team Running Back
First Team Linebacker
Voting for Achilles would be equivalent of having to vote for a person to a position that has only one person on the ballot.
The ReSporter likes numbers so look at these marks before you go into your booth to cast your vote:
*Rushed for 452 yards on 23 carries in Gustine game last season. *Rushed for 807 yards in two games last season. (Gustine and Boerne Geneva) *Rushed for 2,646 yards last season. *Rushed for 59 Touchdowns last season. *Rushed for 3,537 yards for his career. *Led Bracken Christian to a 45-6 record during his 4 years at QB. *Passed for 3,252 yards for his career. *Threw for 52 touchdowns and only 13 interceptions in career. *Special Teams Achilles had 11 returns (punt and interceptions) for touchdowns. *Achilles had 620 tackles during his 4 year career. *Finished with 28 total Interceptions.
Pretty easy vote to make.
July will be a busy month for Achilles as he has been invited to play in the Can-Am All Star Game in Canada on the 6th of that month.
Then a week later Achilles will be in attendance in the Don Hardin Memorial All Star Game that will pit only Texas players with the UIL vs. TAPPS in Zephyr, Texas on July 13th.
Achilles is the only TAPPS player chosen for the Can-Am contest.
The CanAm Bowl is an annual football game played between Graduated All-Star players pitting US and Canada.
This game is usually played in Saskatchewan as they are the only Province with 6-Man football.
The US will draw players from Texas, New Mexico, Montana, Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado.
This particular game was started in 1997 in a game won by the US, 72-12, which had to be a rude awakening for the Canadians.
Since that first game Canada has won their fair share of games and this is a great honor based on how many players eligible and that Achilles had to be recognized as one of the best in the United States.
The Don Hardin Memorial All-Star game will be the first time that the UIL will be playing TAPPS players.
This game has been played in the past between the two divisions of 6-Man teams in Texas.
Congratulations to Eli Achilles!
