Marisa Ellis WINS STATE in the High Jump

This just in….Marisa Ellis won State in the High Jump with a personal best of 5’6 as she finished tied with other jumpers, but by having no misses entering the 5’8 mark makes History for Canyon Lake.

A win in this event gives the Hawks there first individual team best and will certainly go down as a great honor for Ellis and makes this community proud.

There were five jumpers that reached the 5’8 standard but within that group of athletes, Ellis had no misses.

Ellis was also the first jumper in the field which certainly caused some tense moments for Coach Lacey Lambert and of course family members.

All the students missed at that standard and as each rotation would come around the fans knew that she had moved up in her placing as other jumpers missed knowing that Ellis, with no misses, would be going into that round still holding onto first place.

Congratulations and more on this extraordinary event will be forthcoming.
