Canyon Lake’s Volleyball team won their first game on Thursday night as they took it to the Alumni Team.

After opening with a hard fought loss in the first game, the more fresher players were able to take the next two games and put the Alumni team to bed.

One thing you can notice with this team is that Senior Trena Lorett is very serious no matter who she is playing.

Her intense look on the court was intense.

Lorett had her serve down and served notice that this just not any game.

“I’m hoping with a new coach and a lot of new players that we can get to the playoffs this year,” Lorett surmised.

Canyon Lake will be a young team this year with several Sophomores and a Freshman on the team.

“We are going to take the young players and help them know what we need to

do so they can play up to the Varsity level,” Lorett continued. “Our pre-district games will be important and this is our year and we are going to take it.”

This is indeed a young team but that only mean that as this season matures that this could be a interesting year.

“We are going to clean up our skills,” Head Coach Kimberley Paisley said. “We aren’t ready yet and we will need to get the team to do some things they aren’t used too.”

The Hawks will have a scrimmage in Blanco on Friday and then the season will start next Tuesday in the Hawk gym.
