CL Hawks Finish 2nd Place in Texan’s Silver Bracket
‘Consistent’ has been that one word to describe what Head Coach Kimberley Paisley
would want Canyon Lake Volleyball team to say no matter their outcome in these early pre/district games.
Now with two wins in the Wimberley Tex-Fest Tournament you might see a decent team starting to take hold of that word.
“We are getting more comfortable with our offense and defense, Coach (Paisley) is wanting us to run,” Junior Libero Haley Malone offered. “That is helping us cover the court and be more consistent.”
The Hawks are serving a lot of youth from behind the line and need to be sure they are communicating.
Take a look at this Roster:
Seniors Juniors Sophomores Freshman Trena Lorett Grace Allen Bailey Drum Regan Mickey Amber Ramsey Kacee Vrana Hannah Wunderlich Danielle Stansberry Mariah Ellis Alexis Robinson Emily Muniz Hayley Malone Kelsey Ahrens Lillie Sander
This Hawk team could be special next year, but that is not the objective as this year a statement has a chance of being made.
“We were not playing as a team our first week and right now we are trusting each other,” Malone said. “We were good in the back row and we got the serves where they needed to be and we just played scrappy.”
Malone was commenting on their win against Lockhart.
Canyon Lake certainly has more growing pains to endure, but when you can win and be consistent, then that will help Coach Paisley craft a team that can compete.
The Hawks finished the two day tournament with a turnaround after losing their first two contests
“We came out strong and ready to go in game one in that Comfort game,” Coach Paisley offered. “We stopped talking and let them crawl back into the game. We were 10 point ahead and never left point 15….too many errors and that killed ourselves.”
“We regrouped and did much better in our game with Burnet,” Paisley continued. “We were fluid on offense and had a wonderful passing and receive. It all starts with a pass…”
“We had a ton of growth this weekend for our team and new coach (me),” Paisley finished. “I had a blast coaching these girls. They were responsive, coachable, and eager. Great first tournament and looking forward to moving up the ladder as we get closer to district.”
