week?

Coach Paisley: “Week one started off rocky Tuesday, but rolled around at Tesfest. (Wimberley’s Tournament) The energy and togetherness came and we picked up our level of play. We had a ton of growth during those two days.”

The ReSporter: What is your quest as you proceed from here?

Coach Paisley: “Our quest is getting better every week…getting primed for district. The more competitive we play each week, will only prepare us for our district.”

The ReSporter: You had the opportunity to play a team from District 27-3A in Bandera on Saturday. How do you use that situation with this team especially since that game was a loss?

Coach Paisley: “That is a double edge sword. It can be bad in that it can help your opponent and give some some doubts to your team. It is hard to beat a team three times in a season and that loss can also give us a little more motivation to change that result. Also, your opponent can also stand a chance of thinking that they are better and not work as hard in preparing for our game.”

The ReSporter: Is there a different offense and defense from last year…and is this a better fit for your team?

Coach Paisley: “Our defense isn’t too varied from what they ran last year. We are running a standard rotational defense and will make the adjustments we need to according to our opponents habits on offense.

I want our serves to be better and we need to execute on the front row which will help and not kill our momentum when we have a great dig or block during a rally.”

The ReSporter: Canyon Lake has a very tough district based on results this past week, give us your thoughts on what the Hawks need to do to compete with these schools?

Coach Paisley: “We need to rise to the challenges of our district and understand, no one is going to roll over for us…we need to prepare for each match.”

The ReSporter: What is that one component you are looking for to reach that next rung on the ladder?

Coach Paisley: “We need to excite on offense. Lay the hammer down. When we get a great pass off serve receive or defense, we need to swing to win.”

The ReSporter: Final thoughts?

Coach Paisley: “We have Lockhart, and they are scrappy! Even though we beat them Saturday, doesn’t mean we can lighten up. Then we have the Cedar Creek tournament this weekend, and I expect more from my kids. A continuation from Texfest!”
