Coaches Corner: With Bracken’s Lloyd Fields
Coaches Corner with Lloyd Fields
The ReSporter: Hey Coach what are you thinking with this week’s game?
Coach Fields: “This will be a game that will come down to two or three key plays and either we will make them or they will make them.”
The ReSporter: That sounds like you feel both teams are pretty even.
Coach Fields: “We are a lot alike and this week’s game will tell us how we are going to come out this season. We are at a cross roads of our season and our kids are really focused.”
The ReSporter: You said the kids are focused, what are they focused on?
Coach Fields: “Emery Weiner has speed and this is their best offense that we will have played the past three years. They realize that this team is good and they have a lot of talent. They are a lot like Austin Hill Country and you know how that game turned out earlier this season.”
The ReSporter: Are there anymore new wrinkles that will be installed?
Coach Fields: “There are not a lot of new wrinkles that we can add, but our kids are really focused.”
The ReSporter: You also mentioned a while ago that you have another open date in your schedule now, what happened?
Coach Fields: “We had Giddlngs cancel their game with us this week and now we are searching for another game because we do not want to have two open dates in a row in our schedule.”
The ReSporter: What are your requirements in picking an opponent?
Coach Fields: “We won’t play Throckmorton or any team like that, but we need to find a way to get a competitive team to play that will help keep us sharp as we gear up for our District games.”
The ReSporter: Getting back to this week’s game, what are you looking for?
Coach Fields: “This year’s team does not have a personality yet….the 2010 team was the ‘wild bunch’, the 2011 team was built on speed, 2012 team had desire…but this year’s team we are still waiting on what this team will be noted for….this game with Emery-Weiner will let us know what this team will be known for.”
The ReSporter: What are your final thoughts Coach Fields?
Coach Fields: “I think we will play well and our kids know what Emery-Weiner will do, we will need to find a way to slow down this game.”
The ReSporter: Thanks Coach and we look forward to talking to you next week…good luck.
