back on the winning track as they whitewashed the Billies, 22-0 last Thursday night at Hawk Stadium.

The Hawk rushing attack averaged right at 8 yards per carry as Conner Rose and Landry Moore continued to punish Fredericksburg on the ground.

Rose hit the century mark with 117 yards while averaging almost 20 yards per touch. Likewise Moore was also successful needing just 4 yards for a chance to have two runners with 100 yards in one game.

It did not take Mountain Valley long to establish the run as Rose took the ball on the second play from scrimmage and did not finish running until he had crossed the goal line, 51 yards later.

A three and punt series for the Billies had MVB squad with a more traditional drive covering 54 yards in 7 plays and running out the first quarter clock ahead 14-0.

Rushing on this drive had Moore with 51 yards on 3 carries where he capped off the drive from 15 yards out and what would turn out to be a comfortable lead.

“They (Fredericksburg) were without outside containment,” Moore said. “So I went left for my yards while Conner (Rose) went right.”

Mountain Valley’s Defense was just as impressive while allowing just 61 yards and 2.3 yards per play for the Billies.

Fredericksburg had the ball five times and were relegated to just four plays on three of those possessions.

The other two ended with futility for the Billies as a Giovanni Solberg interception helped squash one drive and a 6 yard loss on fourth down at the Mountain Valley’s 8 yard line preserved a shut out for the Hawks.

One yard rushing in that first half for Fredericksburg gives you an idea of how the defensive line controlled the Billies.

Cornerback Cade Dunavant stuck on his receivers like a June Bug on a Peach.

“One of the calls that our defense makes allows me to knock them (receivers) off their route,” Dunavant said confidently.

This game was a redemption as this squad suffered their first loss last week in Boerne.

“We came out lackadaisical against Boerne and they started getting a good tempo,” Moore said in response to last week’s loss. “We might have been overexcited after our first play was a TD and had a let down.”

“We practiced on tackling and ball security after last week’s game,” Dunavant said. “I think we fumbled five or six times last week and we did not tackle real well.”

Practice makes perfect as there was nothing resembling last week’s game on this night as the Hawks were errorless in turnovers and the longest run for the Billies on this night was for 26 yards and Mountain Valley held Fredericksburg with five straight plays of negative runs to put an exclamation point on this win.

The ReSporter invites some of you football purest to see these Mountain Valley students play….these are very good teams.
