MV Hawks 8th A Team Has Bulldogs with Tail Between Legs in 34-0 Win

The Mountain Valley 8th Grade ‘A’ team was all over Bandera Bulldogs and after the first kick-off the game was all over, in a 34-0 win last Thursday night.

This article can best be done by comparing another game within the game.

The Mountain Valley Offense vs. The Mountain Valley Defense and which one was more dominant.

The Offensive points for stating their case:

1. Total Yards of 307 averaged over 16 yards per play.
2. 14 First downs which would average a first down per every 2 minutes.
3. No Turnovers
4. No Punts
5. 176 yards on just touchdown plays, for an average of 35.2 yards per TD.
6. Scored in every quarter.

The Defensive side of stating their case:

1. Goose Eggs on the scoreboard.
2. Total Yards of 57 and averaged right at 2 yards per play.
3. Gave up only 6 first downs and 2 first downs was a result of a penalty.
4. Only 35 yards on the ground.
5. Three interceptions.
6. Bandera only averaged 2.5 yards per pass play.

Now you can see the problem in finding which unit performed the best when comparing numbing numbers.

Complete domination in the trenches and couple that with the skill players able to pull off that domination with scores from anywhere on the field.

“The line has been working hard in practice,” Running Back Micah St. John said. “I would like to thank the Coaches and line for helping to have a good game.”

Mountain Valley started the game with a pooch kick off the foot of Luke Justis which helped MV to start off with the ball on Bandera’s 44 yard line and two plays later a score.

A Hawk Defense three plays and a punt and Hawk Offense takes three plays and 40 yards for a score.

A Hawk Defense intercepts the next set of plays by Ben Fulton and 2 plays later and another score.

One reason Bandera punted only one time because of all those interceptions which Cruz Flores ended with two QB miscues.

“I was just trying to find the quarterback’s eyes,” Cruz said with his seeing eye Bulldog by his side. “I knew I was going to get that ball.”

This game was over and now you had MV Coaches trying to get as many players on the field as possible.

Bandera did scare the goal line when they threw an interception at the Hawk’s 15 yard line right before halftime.

Result? A Will Joyner 85 yard run down the sideline and a 21-0 score going into intermission.

Mountain Valley had 10 plays of holding the Bulldogs to one yard or less on a play. Bandera only had a total of 29 plays.

So who won? Offense or Defense, it really did not matter since each unit when combined has the intent of keeping their opponent without a score and the offense with over 30 points.

Both sides of the ball won this debate on this night and now will look for more chances to show off their oratory supremecy.

Meanwhile, Bandera Bulldogs could be seen running home with their tails between their legs…and if you have seen a Bulldog, then you know how hard that is to do.

“I hope to win and go undefeated so this will be seen as a powerhouse school,” St. John said when commenting on what he would like to see this team do as the season draws to a close.

“We practice like we play,” Cruz said. “We go full speed and play everyone ilke they are our enemy.”

“Coach has told us to play everyone like they are Navarro, because they are the best,” Receiver Ben Langford was quoted. “We just need to play back in the backfield, because Coach does not want us to get beat deep.

Congrats and good luck this next week in Wimberley.
