Hawks Start Hot and Cold in Marion Tournament
Canyon Lake finally broke into the win column in their win over San Antonio Stacey, 67-64 in the Marion Tournament on Friday.
The Hawks were clicking by pouring in 49 points in the first half and leading by 24 points, 49-25.
In the second half, Stacey had their way winning that part of the game, 39-18.
The hot and cold Hawks continue to work on that formula that will be able to garner more wins and of course points in the process.
In the recent past, CL has had a hard time scoring points and getting into the 60 or more points arena will help in getting more chances for pulling out wins.
By scoring 49 points in that first half, Canyon Lake would of tied or beat last year’s club playing four quarters in points 18 times.
The Hawks had three players scoring in double figures with Garrett Winters game high 16.
Andrew Riali (13) and Luke Curry (11) each joined Winters in the double digit club.
In the Hawks other game on Friday the middle quarters were their downfall as SA Randolph outscored CL, 36-19 during that span and the Hawks could not muster enough points in making a comeback.
Winters was the only Hawk scoring in double digits with 10 points while the team actually shot from the floor and free throw line better in the loss than their earlier win over Stacey.
Canyon Lake will continue their play with two more games Saturday against Lytle with that tip-off starting at 1:30pm and second game against Marion at 4:30pm.
