Hawks Beat Blanco in Championship Game, 3-2
Hawks took the title from Blanco in their own backyard when Kat Weber singled in Alexis Robinson in the fifth inning which proved to be enough needed to pull off another milestone for this Canyon Lake club.
Winning a tournament will be another bench mark that can be put on their wall for a team that is on a roll. This game also allowed CL to avenge an earlier loss this year when the Hawks gave up 9 runs in the 5th inning helping Blanco to a 14-11 win.
Robinson pitched another gem in this seven inning battle, giving up one walk and striking out four Panthers.
Robinson also was pretty salty from the batter’s box with a double and triple in this contest.
Another first for a Hawk player in having those two extra base hits in the same game.
Coach John Gallagher might be more pleased with only one error from his defense which is that one stat you need to have in close games.
Weber and Robinson both led CL with two hits while Kelsey Ahrens contributed a sacrifice fly.
Canyon Lake will be traveling to Austin to battle Hyde Park this coming Monday when they will be playing their second Panther team in a row.
Hyde Park sports a 9-2 record with one of those losses at the hands of Wimberley. This should give Canyon Lake a good barometer of who they are and where they will need to be when district starts.
Congrats Hawks!
