This Week @ Canyon Lake

After an abbreviated week of sports due to Spring Break, Canyon Lake will start back with abandon this week as all the spring sports start in earnest while those winter/spring sports (Soccer) are at the finish line.

The ReSporter is finding it hard to get Soccer scores to report on and can assume that the game with Wimberley last week had a major impact on the playoffs.

The ReSporter has other issues with a recent trip to Colorado, the computer that has all schedules and everything that involves numbers will not be returned until Monday.

So, This Week @ Canyon Lake will not have some sports schedules recorded until after the Computer makes it back home.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Baseball and Softball will both be in action this Tuesday night at home as the Hawk baseball team will be involved in their 4th district game with front runner Boerne.

The Greyhounds have been hounding the District this year scoring in the double digits for two of their wins. Navarro has been the only team thus far to put a scare into Boerne.

Canyon Lake meanwhile will see if their ship has been righted after starting this season with a heartbreaking loss to Fredericksburg.

With wins over Bandera and Wimberley last week, CL can put their sights on Boerne and see if they can put more than a scare into a Greyhound and cause this dog to run with its tail between it’s legs.

Last week had a little of everything go awry in a game but the score, where the Hawks still found a way to beat Wimberley and dominate the Bandera Bulldogs.

This game will need all facets in tip top shape as this Boerne club has the makings of another deep run into the playoffs.

Canyon Lake will also be in Navarro on Friday and face a team that will be 3-1 after they take care of Bandera on Tuesday. Yes, Bandera is not very good this season.

Softball will start their season this Tuesday at home against Fredericksburg.

The Billies beat a team that won over CL in the just completed San Marco Tournament over the weekend.

Both teams were beaten by Weimer but Fredericksburg beat Victoria St. Joseph, 5-2 while CL lost in their final game to St. Joseph.

Both teams were victorious over Houston St. Pius, so this game will be a good gauge for Canyon Lake’s district.

This Hawk team is intriguing to say the least. Canyon Lake was playing some schools over the week-end that would have a JV with older players than this Hawk team.

In that St. Joseph game, CL had four freshman in the lineup with three other sophomore veterans playing.

One Junior and Senior made up that roster of players.

Young is the only word to describe this Hawk team but they have a decent chance of making noise in this District 27-3A race.

Track and Field will also be on display this week when they travel all the way to Wimberley on Thursday.

This Meet will start at 3:30pm and it will be a good chance to see some athletes that are in the hunt for some District 27-3A hardware.

One athlete comes to mind with Christian Dittman Pole Vaulting. This young man has already passed over some milestones this season as he prepares for a legitimate chance to end his career in Austin.

Dittman is not the only student that will be showcased and The ReSporter will start posting more articles for Track this week.

Thanks for reading and Go Hawks!
