Senior Lillie Sander is coming to the rescue

Canyon Lake had a big win against La Grange on the road when they scored a sweep, 25-23, 25-22, 25-23.

For some perspective on this game take these facts on La Grange.

The Leps had just won the Consolation Bracket in the just completed Hays Tournament that had 25 teams in competition.

That translates to winning six out of eight contests and before their loss to the Hawks had a 21-7 record.

“This was a good preparation game for district,” Head Coach Kim Paisley stated. “They will remind you a lot of Wimberley with their tradition.”

Canyon Lake was able to take leads in each game and La Grange would battle back to a 20-20 score, when CL would then finish off this formidable team.

“They (the Hawks) came out real strong in each game and then fought and never gave up,” Coach Paisley recounted the games.

That was an understatement as this would be a sweep and gives CL a good idea of how next week might start in District 26-4A play.

The win gives Canyon Lake a 111-112 record since play started in 2008 and now has the Hawks 12 games over .500 this season which is also a record if the season ended today.

The Hawks could go 0-fer in district play and still finish with a .500 for the year.

Big wins are not that common for the Hawks and this game serves notice that Tuesday nights in the Hawk Gym will start getting fun as district play starts next week.
