Mountain Valley Coaches discusses with team where the sunken Viking ship went down.

Mountain Valley 8th A squad was all over Lago Vista from the get-go, as their shortest offensive play was an eight yard pass to J.T. Greene, as this Viking team is still trying to find their ship after a blowout, 43-0.

A running clock had a better chance of gaining yards on this Hawk defense than this Viking’s offense could muster.

MV was in top form for every facet of this contest, from Special Teams to Offense to Defense, it was all Hawks.

The Vikings average 0.13 yards per carry which would take Lago Vista 76.9230769230769 plays to garner a first down base on that average.

Defensive End Jacob Thomas had one play that he could have taken a handoff, as he was in Lago Vista’s backfield so fast.

“We just went down and dominated them,” Thomas said. “Coaches told us to stay low and we did what they asked.”

Scoring drives were even more impressive. Mountain Valley’s offense had the ball six times and scored on those drives in 10 plays total.

Of those 206 yards gained, the Hawks totaled 137 yards on the plays they scored on.

Lago Vista had 10 rushing plays in the second half with -13 yards to show for it.

Mountain Valley had 10 plays total and scored on five of those plays.

If you have ever been to a 6-Man football game, then you just witnessed how those offenses can operate.

“We treated them just like if we were playing Liberty Hill,” Tristan Chicon said. “We played this like it was our first game and we will need to build momentum and crank it up a notch for next week….we can’t celebrate all week and next week, we will start the  game like it was 0 to 0.

You get the idea that this was a dominating game.

The defense even scored when Linebacker Jacob Ruff dislodged the ball on a Viking and had Cornerback Chance Martelli pick up that fumble for a 37 yard return to paydirt.

Game Drives Yard Line Yards Plays Who Scored
1st Hawks 48 48 2 Ruff 39 yard run
2nd Hawks 41 46 2 Lorett 14 yard pass from Harris
3rd Hawks 22 22 2 Rose 14 yard pass from Harris
4th Hawks 48 48 1 Ruff 48 yard run
5th Hawks 42 42 3 Lorett 22 yard run

An average of over 20 yards per offensive play for this game would explain a running clock for the second half.

This game would have been the same score even if Lago Vista wanted to play two below or flag football.

Now that is dominance.

What else can be said about a game that was probably over once Mountain Valley got off their bus.

Next will be a game with Liberty Hill and you have two teams that are playing some good football, as this Panther team will be bringing an undefeated squad to Hawk field next Thursday.

“We got a big head when we played Wimberley earlier,” Thomas dominated. “We will not do that this next week.”

“We all know that Liberty Hill is a good team and they haven’t lost a game,” Running Back Trenton Lorett composed. “That Wimberley loss will give us a boost….we have been playing well and we need to stay fit and keep staying low and do what our Coaches are telling us.”

Speaking of Coaches, Head Coach Brandon Pawelek was quick with what Mountain Valley will need to do for next week’s game.

“We saw them at track last year at Canyon Lake and they have some very good athletes. This game will be like playing Navarro and Wimberley and it all starts at practice,” Coach Pawelek closed.
