Volleyball Recap:

Canyon Lake has all but clinched a playoff spot as the Hawks beat Yoakum last week and play Gonzales this Tuesday in the Hawk Gym.

Gonzales has one win this year and the Hawks should have an easy time in getting a win and playoff spot this week.

CL has more wins this season than ever previously recorded….each additional victory this year will raise the mark for future Hawk teams.

The Hawk and Panther game in Navarro this Friday will have a chance of giving CL sole possession of second place with a win.

Navarro has been the only team in District 26-4A to give Wimberley a run, winning two sets in their two games this year against the Texans. The Panthers will not be an easy win for CL playing on their home court.

CL Hawks have won two games over Navarro, during this year’s campaign and one more would certainly put some icing on the cake, but beating a team three times in one year is not an easy task. Especially a team that has had successful seasons and is well coached.

District 26-4A has seen La Vernia start their rise with a very young and talented group of girls and with each week more confidence seems to be helping the Bears forge into a good position to take that fourth playoff spot.

Yoakum and Cuero are looking up with some games that are must wins.

That above sentence was how The ReSporter would be reporting on CL’s Volleyball season in previous years and looking up will many times just put a ‘crick’ in your neck.

Cuero, still has a good overall record, but this week they will find out if they are going to challenge La Vernia for a spot for post season.

The Gobblers have a tough two games this week while traveling to Wimberley and getting La Vernia at home. That La Vernia game will make or break Cuero’s season.

Yoakum is just hanging on and have a much dimmer outlook with not only needing wins, but getting a victory over one of those top three clubs to realize a chance of adding more games to their schedule when the dust settles.

Go Hawks!!
