              Let’s GO FAST Hawks!!

District 27-4A Track Meet results had CL Ladies finished scoring 97 points in both the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams this past Thursday.

The top 4 in each varsity event will continue their post-season in an area meet.

Overall, Canyon Lake had the Boys JV with a 3rd place finish scoring 111 points.

For this year’s Varsity, wasn’t a stellar finish in garnering 30 points while just beating out Bandera’s 25 points who finished last.

                  Let’s Go FAST Hawks!!

Layton Hemann was a class act with his 10:31.51 time in the 3200 METER RUN or 40 seconds better than the 2nd place finisher. Hemann was 5 seconds off from his best time this season. That can happen in distance races when a participant is not being pushed by others runners.

Varsity Boys had Alek Villacencio with his personal best, 10:30.65 for a 5th place result. District 27-4A had a plethora of distance runners as Alek finished in 6th place but was still able to time a best ever 1600 meter run beating Hemann’s record set earlier this year by right at 4 seconds, 4:45.83.

Tristan Schenk was able to break that 5 minute barrier which placed has Schenk the 9th best on the All-Time list. Canyon Lake now has all top-ten runners with sub-five minutes for the mile event.

Alek Villacencio 4:45.83 2023
Layton Hemann 4:49.15 2023

Bunk-Haus says Let’s GO FAST HAWKS!!

Marshall McConnell had his personal best in the High Jump (6-02) for a 2nd place finish and that moved him up to 6th place on the Hawk’s all-time list. His Coach (Heath McDonough jumped higher while competing at CL, by 2 inches. McConnell’s jump was still 4 inches better than his previous meets.

The Hawks Boys qualified two athletes for the Area Meet as Coby Mickey won the Pole Vault event with a 14 foot vault and will now attempt to make the State Meet for the second year in a row.

The Lake’s Boys Junior Varsity had 15 who scored points being led by Layton Hemann (2 events) and Harris Gilliam (4 events) 14 points.

Connor Donahue was next scoring 13 points. Connor gained his points in two relays (100 & 200) and finished 3rd in the 100 meter dash.

Griffen Williams Knocks in 11 Hawks in Win over Texans, 17-11

Brayden Welch steals 2nd Base and CL steals a win over Wimberley!
(photo by Dan Reed Photography https://www.danreedphotography.com)

                       Let’s Go Hawks!!

Canyon Lake won a game that was needed to the Nth degree and Griffen Williams helped with the greatest hitting night in The Lake’s History.

The Griff was 5 for 5 with 3 home runs while batting in 11 helping take a lead (3-0) in the first inning. Then another home run that regained the lead, (9-6) and for a little extra spice had a Grand Slam for the eventual victory, 17-11 during his last plate appearance.

Looking at the line-score below showing two schools in a heavy weight fight as each inning but one had just one school scoring runs.

                          INNINGS
                          The 1st:
A quick 1-2-3 for Pitcher Griffen Williams.
A quick 1-Double Chase-2-Bunt Single Hunter-3 Run Homer Batter Griffen.

                            The 2nd:
Done in with 2 errors and Texan’s tie it up at 3 runs.
Hawks left one on base and no hits.

                            The 3rd:
WHS scored 3 runs & bases loaded/one out. A Brayden Welch catch and throw
double play from the outfield to home plate. Stopped the bleeding, 6-3 Wimbo.
Hawks left 2 on base by walk and a Griffen single.

                            The 4th:
A Luke Roskin pick-off on 1st helped CL escape unscathed but still trailing.
Chase single driving in Michael (Anderson) then Griff’s 2nd 3-run homer.
Hawks score 6 runs and retake lead, 9-6.

                            The 5th:
A quick 1-2-3 inning for Pitcher Luke Roskin.
Start inning with two K’s then next 7 Hawks reach base & score 4 runs, 13-6.

                            The 6th:
Two solo home-runs and another error helped Texan’s score 5 runs, 13-11.
Knocked out Punch via Griffen’s Grand Slam. Hawks increase lead, 17-11.

                            The 7th:
Griffen returns to mound & faces 4 Texans with on damage. HAWK’S WIN!

Do note that the team needed to reach base in order for Griffen to have a chance to add an exclamation point to this game.

It was a must win game for your Hawks and as the game progressed many fans were seen going to the parking lot when Griffen came to bat.

New Advertiser that wants the Hawk Nation to Succeed!! Just like CL’s win over the Texans.

The Reason? Moving vehicles so the Baseball Size Hail would not damage property.

Griffen Williams’ 11 rbi’s, stand alone, tied the Wimberley offense and Canyon Lake finishing off their final district foe in Bandera before District 27-4A reverts back to previous district round robins with a two game weekly series.

Let’s GO HAWKS!!
