Canyon Lake ended their San Marcos Tournament and week with a dominating win when they lapped El Paso Socorro, 15-1 Saturday.

Kelsey Ahrens getting an out.
It only took the Hawks two innings to get this game called as they had their largest rally in their school history scoring 15 runs.
Canyon Lake ended their week with just one win against Socorro and those two last inning losses to Yoakum and Gonzales in District 26-4A still stinging.
Hopefully the 15 run inning will get the offense going again for a team with four players batting with a .400 or over average.
Carly Dubois had 6 hits for the tournament as she did her job as the lead off hitter.
With games at home against Navarro and Friday at Cuero, the Hawks can’t wait too long to start responding in district play.

Canyon Lake Boys Soccer got what was needed with their win over Bandera Bulldogs, 1-0 on Friday night.

Senior Goalie Buddy Glass and the CL Hawks shut-out Bandera, 1-0
“It was a total team effort last night,” Head Soccer Coach Warren Graham said. “I’m proud of the effort put forth by every boy.”
Soccer 1-0 games takes extra effort since the game hinges on both sides of the ball equally in order to keep that precious one goal lead.
“They fought hard the entire 80 minutes, knowing we had to win to keep our playoff hopes alive,” Coach Graham continued. “Buddy Glass and the defense worked hard, especially in the last five minutes, to preserve the shutout.”
The Hawks backs were up against the wall as a loss would put CL with no chance for a playoff spot this year.
Canyon Lake completed their fourth shut-out for this year and first in district play.

Canyon Lake lose in their last inning again in District 26-4A play as Gonzales continued the Hawks snake-bit district play, 8-6.
The Hawks forged into the lead after a three run fifth inning and then added another insurance run in the seventh only to find out their policy would not cover those last two outs needed to close out this game.
Alexis Robinson was the bad luck pitcher as errors helped in spelling this ending for the second time in their two district outings.
Canyon Lake will need to find out a way to close games as they play their last non-district games in San Marcos Tournament on Saturday.

Newcomer Addison Ray is addisoning more depth on Hawks Softball Team
Canyon Lake rallies by Johnson City Friday night at the Hawk diamond after constructing another multi-run inning, 7-3.
The Hawks will be entering District 26-4A with an impressive 7-1 record as they used a 6 run second inning showing Johnson City that a Hawk can beat an Eagle.
As this season has shown, Canyon Lake can have some sustaining innings as they turned the trick again, when they batted around to take a lead and relying on a good defensive game to get the win.
CL had gone over a week without any games as weather stopped a tournament last weekend and cancelled games this week, leaving the Hawks hungry for competition.
Canyon Lake has now put together six innings where they have scored 4 or more runs in an inning this season.
The Hawks were also 10-5 at this same time last season, showing how weather has put a dent in this year’s schedule.
“We needed to play,” Head Coach John Gallagher said. “We needed to get back into the infield and play live competition….we started slow but we picked it up and got back in a groove on offense and defense.”
Canyon Lake certainly looked good defensively as the infield was flawless in this game and the offense batted .333 which is lower than their team .393 average going into this game.

Gordon the Plumber Supports Hawk’s Baseball
Canyon Lake finished Friday with a split 1-1 record as Colton Avey doubled in the first inning propelling the Hawks to a 7-4 victory over Del Valle.
Another good development was Gordon McCleary starting and finishing this affair giving up 3 unearned runs in his second win in two days.

Canyon Lake evened their record with a come from behind win over Burbank in the Comal Tournament on Thursday night, 10-9.
It was a wild game as each team was finding it hard to hold onto the ball with the cold weather.
Another day at the igloo as temperatures started in the 40’s and then into the 30’s with the sunset.
The Hawks would have lost this game last year and another win with a 4 run last inning will certainly help as district season will be upon this team before they know it.
