Hawks enter a two game stint that could define their season.
The CL Hawks finish their first round of games in district play and as of this writing find themselves tied with two other teams vying for a 4th and final spot opening for a playoff spot.
A win against Navarro this Thursday would be a big morale booster as they trek into those final games.
Boerne and Wimberley find themselves with Canyon Lake and the Hawks beat one each of those teams.
Boerne beat Fredericksburg for their only win and CL Hawks won their first game in district play with Boerne last week.
Bandera and Fredericksburg play this Thursday and a Billies win would bunch as many as four teams for the remaining three playoff spots.

Hawk’s Track Team will be off this week as they prepare for District 27-3A Meet at Canyon Lake next week
This Week @ Canyon Lake
The Hawks will be testing the first part of this week and so sporting action will commence this Thursday.
Soccer is the highlight for this past week as the upstart CL Hawks almost pulled off a major upset in their game with 5A Boerne Champion.
Regulation ended all knotted up at one apiece and Canyon Lake then ended the overtime period at that same score.
The shoot out was exciting but Canyon Lake lost by a score of 3-4 in that portion of action.
Christy Fowler scored the goal for CL and now with a new district for next season, Canyon Lake will have a legit chance of having a great finish as the district will be made up of 4A schools that are in the same enrollment size.
Wimberley, Boerne, Fredericksburg, and Bandera will be joined with the Hawks for next season.

Canyon Lake played 24 games last season and The ReSporter wanted to compare this year with

Carly Dubois is one of several Hawks making her mark this year
those accomplishments from that 2013 campaign.
The Hawks will complete their first go round in district play this coming Thursday in Navarro and looking at these two years statistically is quite eye opening.
Comparing the offenses is dramatic.
The 2013 year’s team scored 128 runs while this year’s club has a high water mark of 179, a solid 50 runs better.
Base hits have increased by 34 along with more power as Brianna Young has matched her round tripper last season and added Kelsey Ahrens’ (2) and Alexis Robinson’s (4) to that resume.

Canyon Lake breaks the ice in first District 27-3A win over Boerne, 10-3.

Lizzy Henderson continues a legacy of Henderson players in the Hawk infield
The Hawks have had their share more downs than ups this district season, but things fell into place when this CL team sprinted out for a 5-0 lead and finished off the Greyhounds.
“Kids worked hard all week in practice and we struck early and that was the key in this game,” Head Coach John Gallagher stated. “This will give us some confidence offensively.”
Another home run for Alexis Robinson in that first inning to start the fireworks.
“I was just trying to make contact,” Robinson said.
That contact gave the Hawks the shot in the arm needed in getting out of their doldrums.
Four different players had two hits in this hit parade as the bottom of the order collected four of those 10 hits.
Lizzy Henderson and Tiare Kacir kept innings going with their offense and Henderson seems to be settled in as the everyday first baseman now for Canyon Lake.

Hawks win their fourth district game in avenging an earlier loss to Fredericksburg on Tuesday night, 8-5.

Corey Shedrock running the bases for the Hawks
Pitcher Nick Kissel had a complete game three hitter in this win as the Hawk Pitchers kept their District 27-3A era at 1.99 per game.
Kissel had some aggression working in this game as he had a career high five hit batters which helped the Billies keep innings alive and able to score five runs with only three hits.
Fredericksburg has just one win this year in district and CL was the recipient of that victory for the Billies, but in this game Canyon Lake got in gear in the 4th inning scoring 4 runs and riding that 3 run lead to the end of this game.
The Hawks scored two runs in the first inning while keeping their sixth district foe without a run in that same inning.

Hawks Looking for a Rainbow to start their Season Fresh
CL Hawks continue to struggle offensively in the first few innings and Wimberley takes advantage in their 10-6 win on Tuesday night at the Hawk Diamond.
The Texans jutted out to a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning before CL could answer and that was the template for the rest of the evening. As Wimberley had Canyon Lake playing catch-up for the rest of the game.
“We are not starting like we were earlier this year on offense,” Head Coach John Gallagher said. “We are just not starting when we should.”
Kelsey Ahrens and Alexis Robinson both finished the game with two hits leading CL’s offense.

Softball | Comments Off on Hawks Still Winless in District after Loss to Texans, 10-6
Canyon Lake swept Wimberley on Monday night at the Hawk Diamond, 12-6 and 9-2.

Hawks taking it all in after a Sweep of Wimberley
It was the third win for the Hawks over Wimberley and improved their District 27-3A record to 5-1.
Both games had the Texans drawing first blood in the first inning with a run, but soon the Hawks would respond with vengeance, scoring at will.
Wimberley jumped out to a 5-3 lead in that first game when they bottled up all their hits and walks in that one inning to score 4 runs.
CL also chipped in with a couple of errors for some gift wrapped runs for the Visitors.
“We finally loosened up,” Head JV Coach Brian Owens opened. “We put pressure on their (Wimberley’s) defense and then we kicked it up with our offense.”
