Canyon Lake took care of business in the cold in Llano with a 5-2 win on Tuesday night.

Ryan Hutcheson has good day at the plate in game with Llano
This was a good win as the Hawks finally had a team that was not larger with enrollment to play and compete with.
Junior Cody Powell pitched a gem and pitched five innings with two back to back three strike out innings.
“We wanted to give (Cody) Powell some work as we are trying to see who we might have as our pitcher on Tuesday’s when district starts,” Head Coach Trent Dunavant said.
Powell finished with nine strikeouts with three walks in his effort.

Same song but different verse as Canyon Lake beat Luling for the second time

Kat Weber and Emma Broussard after win over Luling
this year at home, 13-2.
The Hawks piled on the hits and overmatched the Eagles on this night as Freshman Kat Weber (3) led four other players with multiple hits.
“I think we did well tonight and we got aggressive,” Short Stop Weber said. “Our base running has got to get better.”
Coaches have to like players that are not satisfied and that statement speaks volumes for a player that is in her first year.
Is there competition amongst the freshman on this team? “There is always competition but we definitely love each other and are getting more comfortable with our game.”

goal and just were not responding offensively as much as the Texans.
Christy Fowler had the one bright spot as she dribbled the ball down the sideline with a minute left and was fouled giving her a penalty kick as she was nearing a chance to score.
This was all happening after Wimberley had scored just two minutes earlier for a 1-0 lead.
Fowler was good and both teams retreated for their halftime break.

CL Hawk Band would be busy this week with all the events planned.
The Hawks are off and running as this Spring Season has all sports in full gear.
Baseball lead off with some tough competition when the Junior Varsity were on the road in Marble Falls and losing two games. That was not all bad, when the Hawks rebounded in their second game with a two run contest.
This week, CLJV Baseball will be on the road again in Llano with a team in that same classification and hopefully a different result.
Hawk Varsity also started in Marble Falls with four games against some high caliber teams. With each passing game you could see CL start to mature with each bout.
That will be a good thing as this week CL will be playing some more tough competition in the Comal ISD Tournament.
For the next week, ready or not, Canyon Lake starts District 27-3A with a game against Fredericksburg.
Softball also had an up and down week when your Hawks started in Blanco with a loss and then a rebound in Comfort.
This week, Canyon Lake will have their opening game on Tuesday night against Luling. Then on the road again but just for a short distance as the team will start off with three games on Thursday and then back to Blanco for Saturday games.
Soccer is into their district games and the Lady Hawks did win a game that was pivotable for having a chance of making the playoffs. Again this week, a game on Tuesday with Wimberley will be huge in seeing if this Hawk team will be having a chance of continuing there season in a few weeks.
The Hawk’s Boys Soccer team lost a tough game to Seguin, 2-0 which puts pressure for this club beating Wimberley. Last year, Canyon Lake had a big win against the Texans and their game on Tuesday needs to be carried over for another win in order to keep the playoffs in their mirror.
Canyon Lake Track teams started in a very tough Meet in Bastrop last Saturday. The teams in this Meet were all larger than the CL and 10th and 13th place finish for the girls and boys respectfully was not viewed as a bad day.
Christian Dittman was on schedule when he cleared 14’6 and winning that event and now clearing that 15 foot barrier is now a goal for this athlete and continuing a Hawk with a legit chance of going to Regions.
That 14’6 mark beat his personal best of 14’3 cleared last year in the Hawk Relays.
Canyon Lake also had a decent start in Boys Golf and will look to continue their game in Blanco this week.
Skyler Tschoepe shot a 78 that was second best in the Navarro tournament.
The ReSporter will be busy this week as February 28th will also be celebrating the 27th year of marriage to a wonderful life partner.
Thanks for reading.

Canyon Lake’s improvement has not shown up on the win column yet, but their last game in the Marble Falls

Hawks gather after loss to Hutto as they keep improving.
Tourney gave an indication of what might be in store for this team.
Hutto has a 4A classification and the Hawks rallied from a 4 run deficit to tie the score in the fifth inning before falling in the seventh and a 5-4 loss.
Nick Cahill was perfect from the plate reaching base each time up and knocking in three runs in this contest.
Pitcher Tanner McGill also had a very impressive day allowing only one run in his four innings of work.
In the batter’s box, McGill also reached base both times he appeared.
