Karl Weidner stopping a Texan with reinforcements not far away
It was not that long ago that Canyon Lake was wondering if this might be a winless season. Then a wonderful event happened in Bandera….a win.
The Defense was literally offensive in how it shut down those Bulldogs.
Giving up 109 yards of total offense for their best defensive effort ever…yes, that includes the 2009 year, which is the standard for CL teams to aspire too as that was a salty defensive team.

District 27-3A Football Recap after Week 3.
The ReSporter mentioned last week how each game was pitting a team with the same district record.

Tommy Clark and Austin Acosta tackling a Texan
Navarro was beaten if what might be considered a minor upset when Fredericksburg won, 31-29.
That was an exciting game as it will now give Fredericksburg an inside track for their first football championship since the Billies moved down to 3A classification.
The Billies do play Wimberley next and those Texans have to be reeling after their loss at the claws of The Hawks.

Bracken Christian Warriors avoided a trap game in their contest with Kerrville OLH pulling out a win, 60-44.
“This was a good win,” Head Coach Lloyd Fields said. “This will assure us of a second place finish in District and a possible first round playoff with Sugarland Logos Prep.
Noah Boriack scored six times and rushed for 316 yards in the win as this Warrior also decided to intercept two passes for the icing on the cake.
“This game was Boriack’s best game at Bracken,” Coach Fields continued. “Of course he had a break out game running but his two interceptions was also a testament of his good game. At halftime I thought this game would have over 80 points scored in it.”

Mountain Valley 7th A Team Taking in Coaches Talk after Win over Wimberley, 38-22
Mountain Valley 7th B Squad Takes Air out of Ball in Win over Wimberley
Mountain Valley’s 7th B team played lock down defense in the second half to wrestle the lead and win over Wimberley last Thursday night at Hawk Stadium, 16-12.
The Texans led the total yardage stat at halftime by a slim 9 yard cushion, 86-77 yards.
Then the second half had that same defense take the Texans to New Mexico when they held Wimberley to a total of 3 yards and goose eggs for the remainder of this game.
That defense allowed Mountain Valley to stage a 12 play 68 yard drive when Devon Morehead crossed the goal line for the eventual winning touchdown.
“They could not stop us because our line blocked so well,” Morehead said while using his head. “We did a great job and and we got better.”
On that fourth down interception, Morehead commented, “All I saw was the ball going straight and I just went after it.”

Canyon Lake Freshman team has sent a letter to the UIL, so they will look at taking the second quarter

Charlie McIntosh taking a break after 67 yard kick-off return agains Wimberley
out of the game of football.
With a affirmative to that request the Hawks would of had a tie game, 20-20.
The Hawks were also lethal on kick-off returns as they had over 250 return yards when Charlie McIntosh ran a kick-off back for their final score 67 yards.
“I was watching my blockers, (Kennith)Jowers, (Allen) Vavrecka, (Austin) Brooks and started jogging waiting for a hole to open up,” McIntosh started. “As soon as the hole opened, Austin Brennan started yelling at me to run…run…run.”
Canyon Lake has perfected the return and heaven knows they had a lot of practice in this game with Wimberley.
