26-4A Volleyball Standings and District Recap
Sunday, October 12th, 2014CL Hawks are getting Close in Loss, 19-14 to Liberty Hill
Saturday, October 11th, 2014Canyon Lake keeps getting close to a break out game as Liberty Hill just got by in this Hawk game by the skin of their teeth, winning, 19-14.
The Hawks had just scored on a 17 play 75 yard drive when they recovered an on-side kick for another chance to drive a nail into the Panther cage.
With the ball on the Panther 14 yard line a Skyler Tscheope pass to Evan Schuller went just off his hands on the two yard line leaving Canyon Lake empty handed once again with a tough loss.
“We told them this would be the toughest game on our schedule,” Head Coach Charlie Drum said. “We played well in all three phases of this game and we just challenged them and let them know if they played like that then the wins would come.”
Canyon Lake took the first hit when Liberty Hill drove their opening drive for a touchdown.
A missed on-side kick to start the game had this Panther team setting up shop on their 47 yard line. Liberty Hill converted two fourth and one plays and then from the 29 yard line, quarterback Nick Hernandez took a convoy into the end zone, drawing first blood.
MV Hawks 8B Team just misses Win in LH game, 8-0
Friday, October 10th, 2014Mountain Valley 8B team lost game with two minutes left in their game after squandering several scoring opportunities, 8-0
Two great opportunities for scores went awry on this Hawk team as the defense played a excellent game with another chance for redemption next week.
MV will travel to Liberty Hill for another chance to make things right blowing some good drives just short of the goal line.

Three good chances that did not pan out and knowing that two would of won this game will be a sore spot until these two teams meet next week.
MV Hawks 8th A Squad Find Buzzards after, 19-6 win over Liberty Hill
Friday, October 10th, 2014Mountain Valley 8th A squad was all business as they disposed of an undefeated Liberty Hill team, 19-6 last Thursday night at the Hawk Stadium.
Liberty Hill’s offense was stymied when they did not realize a first down until their last play of the first half while MV was in a prevent defense.
The first half stats can certainly tell the story of how dominant your Hawks were, take a look:
First Half Stats LH Panthers MV Hawks Total Yards 26 124 First Downs 1 8 Rushing/Yards 12/26 18/81 Comp/Att/Int 0/0/0 2/2/0 Passing Yards 0 43 Time of Possession 5:15 10:45
CLJV Loses to Liberty Hill, 20-16 in Squeaker
Friday, October 10th, 2014Canyon Lake JV squad is night day different team from last season.
Case and point is watching Liberty Hill jumping up and down after winning a squeaker contest over a team that was lucky to score much less get a win a year ago.
The ReSporter remembers interviewing Tyler McCleary after a game last season because he scored two points after intercepting a two point conversion try running 100 yards to score those points.
This year, not only is this team winning, but they are playing with such improvement that any game is a winnable affair.
An on-side kick to start the game did give the Hawks a chance to inflict some pain on this Panther team, but that drive did not produce a first down and Liberty Hill was just delayed in having a chance with the ball.
Coaches Corner with Bracken’s Head Coach Lloyd Fields
Thursday, October 9th, 2014Coaches Corner with Bracken’s Head Coach Lloyd Fields
The ReSporter: Hey Coach, was there a difference in this week’s of practices after losing your first game last week?
Coach Fields: “No difference, this is probably the most unemotional group of players that I have ever had at Bracken…they are very workmanlike. These guys are in survival mold and are just fortunate that they are still playing.”
The ReSporter: You mention the number of players you have, what does that do for the players as they are playing, in many cases, the whole game?
Coach Fields: “There is no middle ground with these players. They are unscathed….their lack of numbers is starting to catch up with then but this is a new era in Bracken as we have many players that are just trying to stay healthy. This is all we got and the younger players are all trying.”
The ReSporter: How are you approaching this week’s game with New Braunfels Christian?
