26-3A Standings and Leaders
Saturday, September 24th, 2011Hawks find Other ways to Win, Beat Luling, 56-28
Saturday, September 24th, 2011Canyon Lake won, improving their record to 5-0, after doing the special things Friday night in Luling after clamping the Eagles 56-28.
The Hawks scored in ways that had not yet been associated with a win or loss in the history of the program. On the 38th game, CLHS learned that the scoreboard would record interceptions and kick-offs that are run back for touchdowns.
Those two scores helped give Canyon Lake the separation they needed to subdue the Luling Eagles.
The records were plentiful in a game that saw the two teams combine for the most aggregate points scored with 84 in this battle…the previous record? 2008 in a loss to Fredericksburg, 65-14 for 79 points.

Friday, September 23rd, 2011The Canyon Lake JV team has reached the five win plateau for the season
streaking to a 34-0 lead by the third quarter in a route over the Luling Eagle JV team.
The Hawks wasted little time when they started on their 36 yard line for their first drive.
An incomplete pass and then the Eagles got a dose of Theisz for their thesis in English class.
Dominic Theisz carved the Eagles with three runs totaling 64 yards in just 30 seconds. Runs of 34, 23, and 11 yards had the Hawks with a 7-0 lead after an Austin Denton extra point.

Hawks Beat SA Hawkins in Volleyball
Tuesday, September 20th, 2011Canyon Lake would be a wild ride at the rodeo this season. The Hawks won another needed game over the Hawkins Wolfpack, Tuesday, 25-10, 25-8, and 25-4.
San Antonio Hawkins is not a team that will scare many teams this year so the victory was expected, the key to games like this would be the focus and how the team took care of business.

The Bracken Warriors take on an old foe that played the first two years of existence. In fact, the 2007 win was just the Warriors fourth win in their history.
Volleyball: BCS Passes by Austin Hill Country
Monday, September 19th, 2011The Bracken Volleyball team used a good passing game to overcome the Knights of Austin Hill Country, 25-23, 25-14, and 25-19.
The game started like it would be a give and take series, but the Warriors stated clicking and the Knights just could not keep up.
“We had great ball control on defense,” Head Coach Shaunna Teuton said. “The team was helping each other and did not let down.”
This time Coach Teuton was stating the obvious. The Warriors did not have any one girl dominate, Bracken was playing like the ‘Borg’ on Star Trek the Next Generation, as the collective.

The Rebels Succumb to the Hawks, 52-21
Saturday, September 17th, 2011The win was not as close at the final score indicated. The Hawks had a 45-0 lead at halftime and the CL crowd was hoping the visitors would come out and play the second half after the King and Queen were announced for the Homecoming crowd.
Congratulations to Keegan Collins and Zach Henshaw for those honors.
“I did not even know I had won,” Henshaw said. “I was concentrating on what I had to do next when the second half started back.”
Henshaw also continued his unabashed running for the record books scooting for 252 yards on just 23 carries. The night had Henshaw averaging 11 yards per carry.
Travis did come into the game giving up almost 400 yards per game on the ground for the season which played into the Hawks strength.
Hawks JV Repels the Travis Rebels, 38-14
Friday, September 16th, 2011The Junior Varsity in name has won fourteen games in a row now. The swagger
that possessed the JV last season has engulfed another group of young man as they continue through this season.
“The boys played really hard,” Head JV Coach Trent Dunavant said. “We are once again very proud of how they prepared themselves for a road game. They had a very good week of practice and they keep getting better each week.”
The Hawks were up 26-0 before the Rebels could use the light bulbs in the scoreboard. The defense held Travis on their first drive and the rest was ‘history’.
Dominic Theisz started the parade, scoring on a 35 yard run that ended the 65 yard drive.

Volleyball: BCS evens District Record, Beats Summit 3-0
Thursday, September 15th, 2011Bracken Christian dug deep and left Summit grasping for air in the three game sweep of their District foe, winning 25-6, 25-2, and 25-10.
The game evened the record for the Warriors after losing in four games to OLH earlier this week in Kerrville.
The Warriors were at the door step against OLH, but never knocked on the door and finish the game. BCS had a 21-10 lead and could not finish.
It happened again in the second game when the Warriors were rolling along with an eight point lead with the same result.
