Playoff week @ The Lake with CLake’s Volleyball playing a Semi-Final contest against Wimberley in San Antonio. Volleyball has disposed of Legacy Ranch, Cuero and El Campo thus far with a huge hurdle this Tuesday playing the Texans.
A Tall Order but this is why you play the game because you never know what can or will happen. One thing for sure is a Hawk Team that has been playing lights out who beat a Ricebird team much like they were playing in their district schedule by Needville.
The first serve will be at 700pm in San Antonio Blossom Center.
Football will start their post-season at a neutral site in Lockhart High School with kick-off 700pm. Taylor finished second in their Austin district and should be a good game and a chance for CLake to start another year with a bi-district battle.
The Lake had to come back last week by scoring two 4th quarter touchdowns which had CLHS scoring on all 4 possessions in that 2nd half of action.
Basketball has begun and the Ladies took Jefferson to the woodshed scoring a 73-12 victory and will have a home game this Tuesday against Smithville and then on the road to St. Mary’s.
CLake Boys Basketball had their first scrimmage in Lampasas last Saturday and will continue at Manor on Monday with their first regular season contest in Luling November 18th.
Congrats to The Lake’s Volleyball Team and good luck this week.

Volleyball: Hawk’s Eat Ricebirds, 3-1
Sunday, November 9th, 2025
Canyon Lake Volleyball (24-16) is going where no other (except Boy’s Soccer) team has ever gone in The Lake’s Post Season history after a Lake sweep of El Campo (28-12) after spotting these Ricebirds that first set, 25-27, 25-17, 25-21, 25-15.
Boys Soccer made the first round in the Final 4 and now CLake will try to replicate that feat with a win this coming Tuesday at the Blossom Athletic Center Littleton Gym in San Antonio with first serve at 7:00pm.
It will be a tough opponent seeing that it is a team CL has lost 3 times this season to with that first loss early during a regular season tournament play.
Wimberley finished first in district and sport a lofty, 44-5 record entering this Regional Final battle.
The Lake has hit their stride during their last three UIL Tournament season games and beating an El Campo team that finished their district with two losses to Needville while sweeping the rest of those district battles.
This night started with The Lake having a lead early, 4-1 and kept that advantage until a Ricebird 4 point rally securing an El Campo first lead, 18-13.
Canyon Lake would draw back tying, 20-20 on a Gabby Fory kill and an unforced error by EC. The Lake would continue prying with a two point lead, 23-21 but that was when El Campo would impose their will in a first set Lake loss, 27-25.
CLake’s next set was a full out blitz with all but one player scoring points off serve. In fact, CL had 4 service points of 2 or more which led to an, 18-11 Hawk advantage.
Gabby Fory was on top of her game getting 5 kills and a block during that blitz with great passes and solid assists leading to this convincing, 25-17 conquest.
During those last 3 sets had CL in single digits with unforced errors, 7 in set two ~ 8 set three ~ 6 set four.
It was that 3rd set that would see too much Rice in these Birds as The Hawks would soar and finally devour these Ricebirds. Canyon Lake & El Campo would have 8 ties during this set before taking a, 17-14 lead capped by a Chylea Gray ace that tipped the top off the net falling harmlessly to the court.
It was a Chloe Gray kill for that final clinching point giving CL a, 2-1 lead and what would lead to an even more convincing fork (or should that be spoon) into these Ricebirds.
Izzy Fory’s service would be a separating moment in this final set with an ace that was joined with two kills from Gabby Fory and Kylie Rodriguez giving CLake a, 7-3 lead and with that separation it would be present until that final point.
Bella Biasatti had an ace and two more kills for Rodriguez and more unforced errors that had the only thing fearing El Campo would be all that Rice left on their plate, 25-15.
Lots of Hawks were flying high in this win with Gabby Fory finishing with 17 kills, Kylie Rodriguez 25 digs, and Chloe Gray’s 38 assists.
Canyon Lake continues to enjoy their ride into another week of games!

The Lake Had Right Potion in, 17-13 Win Over Pleasanton
Sunday, November 9th, 2025
The Lake finished regular season with a respectable, 7-3 record and after a fourth quarter comeback win over Pleasanton will now use some momentum in their coming up Bi-District contest against an old foe Taylor Duck team this Friday in Lockhart High School with kick-off at 7:00pm.
CLake started slow with a first series fumble followed with 3 series composed of 3 plays and punt sequence.
Meanwhile the Eagles’ punt return on their second possession started 35 yards for a score. It would be an 8 play and 25 yard field goal, 3-0 score that would end up being all the scoring for all 24 those first half minutes.
CLHS had 89 total yards during those opening two frames with 48 yards coming on their last drive before running out of time.
Pleasanton started their second half with another 8 play drive which was helped with a 26 yard pass play and 29 yard scoring completion for a, 10-0 lead.
The Lake responded with a 10 play drive covering 46 yards and a Jack Stracener, first field goal, traveling 31 yards and putting this battle back into a one score lead, 10-3.
This Eagle team kept soaring with another time consuming 12 play drive which would produce a 41 yard field goal. Leaving CL with a 10 point deficit two plays into that final quarter of work.
This work would need to come both offensively with at least one defensive stop.
Possessions would be treated like gold in this contest and it was the Hawk’s Special Team who helped next when Gram Simpson took his kick-off return setting only needing 57 yards to paydirt. It took 5 plays and a Simpson 4 yard run with still more work needed to be done still needing 3 points for a tie.
Pleasanton did drain more precious minutes off the clock using a 12 play drive which would leave CLake needing to go 76 yards for their final score be it field goal or touchdown.
Fifteen plays later it would be Chris Brown’s power sneak that gave CL a hard fought must win leaving this Eagle team with enough time to respond.
That Canyon Lake final drive had just two 3rd down plays but it would be a Lucas Schexnayder 20 yard catch and run to the 3 yard line that erased an earlier holding call that led to his finishing touches and Hawk with a victory.
A Hawk Defense would be key in giving CLake’s offense enough time and chance to pull this win off after scoring on all 4 possessions in that second half which turned out to be a right potion and putting those same ingredients starting this coming Friday for another win.
Canyon Lake has a, 4-0 record over Pleasanton now with those first two coming during post-season play.

Lake’s Volleyball Beat Cuero, 25-13~25-17~26-24 Next Up El Campo
Wednesday, November 5th, 2025
Canyon Lake’s Volleyball (23-16) swept through their Area Round over Cuero, 25-13, 25-17, 26-25 as they will have a short rest before facing El Campo Ricebirds (28-11) in a Regional Semi-Final battle.
The Hawks had been stuck as an Area finalist 7 times previously and now will try to up the ante with another win.
Lake Volleyball was the first sport to win a District Championship when they went undefeated during that 2015 campaign but was just short when Sealy overcame a first set Hawk win before rebounding with a, 3-1 comeback.
CLake started this night with one of their best opening sets taking these Gobblers, 25-13. Over half of those points were a result of some salty sets from Senior Chloe Gray to an array of Hawks with Te’a Gonzales starting off with 2 kills, Gabby Fory 3 kills, Preslie Owens 3 kills in succession.
That start had The Lake enjoying an 18-7 advantage with Kylie Rodriguez serving a 5 point rally and eventual first set dominating result.
These Gobblers would hang around longer in that second set clawing back to an, 11-11 tie before CL would again be in top form outscoring Cuero, 14-6 to finish that set.
It was the third set that had more drama as both squads were tied 10 times during this set before Canyon Lake forged to a 19-14 advantage and what looked like another copy cat win.
However, it was Cuero that got some pecking (or whatever Gobblers do) and took a, 23-21 lead that had Head Coach Daniella Villarreal calling a timeout, “I just told them to take a deep breath and take it one point at a time.”
Some unforced Gobbler errors and then two kills by Gabby Fory from perfect assists for Chloe Gray to finish flatten this Area Round Road Block that allowed a smooth drive home with a trophy that hopes to have more company in the upcoming years.
This upcoming Regional Semi-Final contest has two even teams according to Max-Preps in Texas Ricebirds ranked 335~~Hawks 334, Section Ricebirds ranked 171~~Hawks 170, and State Division Ricebirds ranked 46~~ Hawks 45.
The 2025 Texas Girls Coaches Association State Volleyball Poll just came out with Canyon Lake ranked 8th in their Class 4A Division II Poll. Wimberley is ranked 3rd in this poll to give some reference.
Canyon Lake will match up this Friday in Gonzales, Texas with the winner advancing to the Regional Finals.

Girls Basketball All-Time Career & Season Stats
Monday, November 3rd, 2025
Tis the season with another year for Canyon Lake’s Lady Basketball to get things going with a new head coach and what should be a young team.
Char Hutson was placed as the new Head Coach for a program that has had several people in that chair these past few seasons.
Coach Hutson will be bringing a fresh approach since this will be here first year as head of her own program. Hutson has been an assistant these past few years and having a knowledge of the players will play in her favor.
The ReSporter has been part of the Hawk’s Sports programs from the beginning and has seen these All-Time articles giving present players a goal of what they might be able to break into this group of ladies. As well as former players (and Parents) love seeing where their daughter still stands in this realm.
Let’s Go Lake and Hawk Nation wish Coach Hutson the very best crafting this season.

Hawk’s Were Electric in Bi-District Win Over Legacy Ranch.
Friday, October 31st, 2025
Canyon Lake took care of business sweeping into an Area Round playoff next Tuesday in Seguin against Cuero after disposing of Legacy Ranch Wranglers, 25-19 ~ 25-10 ~ 25-18.
“The first playoff game was electric! We had the home court advantage, and a huge credit goes to our fans with all our families, students, teachers., and staff for bringing the energy that helped us gain and maintain momentum throughout the game,” Head Coach Daniella Villarreal started. “The first set was full of playoff nerves, as none of our girls had experience this level of competition in volleyball. However, we have multi-sport athletes with playoff experience in soccer and softball, so I knew they would overcome their nerves and rise to the moment. By the second set, we took control with strong serving and passing, playing a much cleaner, more confident game as we settled into the environment. I’m really proud of how they handled the playoff atmosphere and improved as the game progressed.”
Starting the first set, The Lake could not shake these Wranglers before forging a 3 point lead, 15-12 and then hitting their stride stretching that lead to, 24-15 before seeing these Visitor’s 4 point rally.
That momentum continued into that 2nd set when Chloe Gray opened with a 4 serve rally with the help of a Preslie Owens’ kill with some added unforced errors coming from the Wranglers.
Legacy would still hang around getting back to a 2 point deficit, 10-8 before Paisley Fahrney would unleash, serving a 4 ace 9 point rally, that gave CLake all they needed tying up this Wrangler team winning, 25-10.
It was Chloe Gray’s time behind the line serving another 3 point barrage that had an ace and three different Hawk’s with a kill, Goff (finished with 7), Kylie Rodriguez (finished with 8) and Te’a Gonzales (finished with 3).
Those 9 points also added a kill for Kylee Goff along with a kill and block coming from Gabby Fory.
Fahrney finished the night leading the Hawks with 5 of CL’s 13 aces.
Canyon Lake’s depth proved to be too much for Legacy Ranch keeping the pressure on with a plethora of players getting into the act.
Kills: 6 different players with 3 or more. Aces: 4 different players with 2 or more. Digs: 9 different players recording one or more. Blocks: 4 different players with Goff leading this category with 3. Assists: 6 different players with Chloe Gray, the setter, with 25.
A lot of action from the starters and bench giving Head Coach Daniella Villarreal many options to take control of this first post-season opportunity in six years.
That last set had Legacy’s back against the wall which had their first lead of more than one point as Legacy led, 10-9 before Fahrney took over serving another 4 point rally that had (wait for it) another ace Chloe kill.
The Hawks would continue their dominance finishing their third set by outscoring these Wranglers, 17-8. CLake scored 6 straight times on their serve to finish this match.
Coach Villarreal shared Canyon Lake’s next battle, “On Tuesday, we face Cuero at Seguin High School at 6:00pm. We’ll be preparing strategies to set us up for success while maintaining confidence and team chemistry. Each playoff round gets tougher, and anything can happen, so our focus in on improving as a team and keeping our momentum going.”
This is CL’s 8th year to play during the post-season with 7 of those invites having the Hawk’s winning a Bi-District Trophy. The Lake has an, 0-7 record in that second round and getting over that hurdle has been hard to accomplish….is this the year?
The Resporter thinks that Coach Villarreal would mention one more ingredient needed for this next round….ANOTHER HAWK NATION TURNOUT FOR A WIN!
