BCS Volleyball takes Rock out of the Arch

The Bracken Christian were successful in taking the keystone out of the arch for the eventual fall, as the Warriors beat Keystone, 25-12, 25-14, 25-11.

BCS was ahead 7-6 when the stone was taken away in the first game, as the Warriors scored 18-6 finish for the convincing win.

“I want the girls to always finish no matter what,” Head Coach Shaunna Teuton said. “But, we have plenty to work on.”

Always leave it to the Coach to throw some water on the party to give the players more room to grow and mature as the season progresses.

Was that Intentional?

I hope you are getting ready for the upcoming football season as much as I am.  I know, like every year, it will hold all kinds of excitement and surprises.  I for one love the build up, the thoughts of what if, and the wonderful end to the looooong break away from the greatest sport on earth.  My oldest son, Noah is starting his first football season and I was surprised this past weekend to see how well he performed in the grass drills he participated in.  He is going into a draft for a Youth Football League and I potentially could officiate one of his games.  I am even more excited about this year and hope that I will be able to.

BCS wins in 5 over TMI San Antonio

Bracken Christian finally finished and persevered over the Panthers of TMI, 25-21, 23-25, 26-28, 25-23, 15-10.

The Warriors played with the lead in each game but had problems finishing two of the games after being in the lead. The fact the Warriors reached the 23 point plateau usually meant that they had hit a road block.

“We just have to push to the finish,” Head Coach Shaunna Teuton said. “In practice we tell them they have to finish and we do harder drills that will give them more aggressiveness and intensity.”

The Bracken Christian Warriors will not play BCS this year once the scrimmages start this Friday.

“The kids are tired of practices,” Head Coach Lloyd Fields said. “This is the chance to prove what you can do.”

The Warriors will be playing Lometa and look forward to having the chance of hitting someone that they don’t know. Bracken will be looking for the chance of seeing where the team stacks up against a team that finished 7-4 last season in the UIL division.

The Bracken Christian Warriors started their season with a loss to Round Rock Crusaders at the Warrior gym, Monday night August 8th.

BCS finished the season last year by rallying the troops and making the playoffs with a very young team and some of that youth was still present in the opening game.

“We are still working out the kinks,” Head Coach Shaunna Teuton said. “We have a lot of girls back and we had a little learning curve tonight.”

You get the feeling that the practices have revealed some surprises of some players, leaving a different taste in the collective mouths of the Coaches. Cereal seems to be eggs and ham and now the team will find out if the food is an all-you-can-eat.

Fresh Grass

Ropes Texas, home to the fighting Eagles, who at the time were number 22 in the state in six man football, and it also was the starting site of a true adventure in sports. The cast of characters; 40 new recruits to Texas High School Football’s TASO group, the West Texas Chapter of the Texas Association of Sports Officials’. Among them was a former star on the grid-iron, at least in his own mind….Me! I had always wanted to officiate football, even when I was playing. It seemed I always had a different opinion of what the “REF’s” were calling in most games I played or participated in. So, I went ahead and took the challenge of becoming a new official. Little did I know the direction it would take me and how enjoyable it would be.

The coaches have been putting in overtime as Coach Fields talked about the accomplishments thus far, “We are in good shape and we already have put in our offense and defense.”

The team will be in good shape based on the last statement, as the practices can be based on more repetition allowing the team to have a much better understanding of all the different facets of the game.

Bracken’s First Day of Practice (in) Shapes Up

The Bracken Christian Warriors have started the climb to their second State Championship today.

Last year’s season has now become a distant memory as the morning heat swept this new Warriors team into shape for another Championship run.

“We had a good first day of practice,” Head Coach Lloyd Fields said. “Nobody got hurt.”

Coach Fields is not at his first rodeo and knows all to well on how to prepare a team for another run for the prize. “We won last year because of what we did in August, not what we did in November or December,” Fields reiterated.
