The CL Hawks survived a wolf pack in eked out this contest and 2nd win by one point, 21-20.
“We survived,” Head Coach Charlie Drum said with a sigh. “It was wild and no-one could put it any other way. It is good to go 2-0 but we had too many penalties on both sides of the line.”

Canyon Lake will go into their 2nd game of the season against a foe that will be playing their 2nd year of Varsity competition.
The Hawks were in this same boat 11 years ago after finishing their first year with just one win. That would be short lives after a rise to making the playoffs in their 2nd campaign.
Weiss could be a carbon copy of that Hawk team which should give this Hawk squad enough ammunition to be ready for this battle.

With more than two years of getting no worse than a tie, The Lake’s Freshman found themselves on the short end of a stick after suffering an out of whack loss to Weiss, 26-20.

What a difference a week made for CL’s Gold squad after playing an JV team last week vs. going against a more adaptable age group on Thursday. This Hawk Gold team was Golden in scoring in each quarter for a, 28-6 win over Weiss Maroon.

The Hawks will be in action tonight in Marble Falls when they open their 2019 Season against the Mustangs.
Marble Falls will be in their first year with a Slot-T Offense and this 5A School will be looking to avenging last year’s Hawk win.
Canyon Lake lost a large class and will be playing to reload and continue this year after enjoying a 3 year reign of 7 wins or more.
