Rendition of what the Hawk Tunnel will look like

Rendition of what the Hawk Tunnel will look like

Greetings:
We are writing this note to ask for your assistance in helping us raise funds for this much needed ‘NEW HAWK TUNNEL.’

We would like to move out on this fund raiser immediately so we get this tunnel before the beginning of school year, with this being said, we need to place an order ASAP!

As you all know, our HAWKS’ Football team is in need of a new and safer tunnel. Our current tunnel finally died before the second playoff game last season, the motor broke before the game started and the tunnel has several small holes throughout which will require maintenance soon.

We took the liberty of looking into another tunnel and getting the plan approved by our Booster Club and Coach Drum.

Our booster club has agreed to allow the use of the tax deductible form for those making donations toward this tunnel and approved a listing of names of those that contributed to a one pager in our program.

CLJV celebrating after beating Wimberley

CLJV celebrating after beating Wimberley

Game 5: Canyon Lake 70 Yoakum 52    Basketball

Game 4 in the count down of the Top 5 games played this past season will certainly be a surprise to some of you since this game did not involve a Varsity team.

This year, Canyon Lake had many sub-varsity teams that finished at the top district races as Mountain Valley keeps feeding some salty classes to the halls in CL that are transferring to a sporting event.

The Hawks had a break out year in Volleyball this season, but many times when a Varsity team comes through with a good season, the Freshman and Junior Varsity might not be as talented.

You might say that those Varsity teams were successful because they needed those younger players to help get them in a better position to compete in those all important district games.

Wimberley has been a thorn in the side of Hawk fans ever since the first year of competition and this past season, the Junior Varsity made great strides as they too were a much improved group of ladies that will be ready to take the baton from those Senior Volleyball players.

Canyon Lake’s Varsity finished by hitting the 30 win plateau, but one of the better games played came during a home game against Wimberley.

The Varsity had an undefeated district record as did Wimberley in the first half of the round robin of district games and the stands would fill up with more people to ever witness a home game.

Will Gray will be one of several players coming back for what could be a coming out party next year

The ReSporter will be having a 5-Part series talking about the top 5 sporting events of this season starting with the 5th Place game down to the number 1 (according to the ReSporter) game.

We will set up what was happening during the season of that sport and rehash that event.

If you would like to comment, then please feel free to give us your thoughts on that game or event and your thoughts.

This will be The ReSporter’s 1500th article since we started with this venture a little over 5 years ago.

We would like to remind you that The ReSporter needs your help with advertisements for this coming season as this is just a break even adventure at the moment.

Both players were integral parts of this past football season where the Hawks made the second round for the second year in a row.

First with some stats for DeVries.

DeVries averaged 9.9 yards per run in the playoffs and finished just behind Zach Henshaw in every other rushing stat. He also finished with 8 games rushing over 100 yards during his career.

DeVries also topped 2000 yards rushing in his last game and finished with 2071 yards for his Hawk career. He averaged a Hawk best of 7.1 yards per carry.

Bracken’s All-Time Football Team

Eli Achillies after game with Emery-Weiner

Eli Achillies after game with Emery-Weiner

When Head Coach Lloyd Fields was contemplating moving on after this football season, he wanted to meet with other former Coaches as well as The ReSporter to see what the consensus would be for naming an All-Bracken team.

The following were the results of that discussion with a note that the first two years was not represented by people who had actually seen those players in person.

There were a few holdovers from that first club in 2006 but the majority of players on the 2006 team might have a different group that might not have been recognized.

So, with out any delay The ReSporter will name the top 6 players voted on and then expand that list by putting a player for each position on the field which would spread more mayonnaise on your sandwich.

Bracken’s Head Coach Lloyd Fields Announces his Retirement

Sunday, November 30th, 2014

Bracken Christian will bid farewell to a Coach who has roamed the sidelines for the past seven years.

Head Coach Lloyd Fields

Head Coach Lloyd Fields

BCS had just finished their first winning season with a 9-3 campaign and it was a quick turnaround from that first one win season the year before.

Giving up 500 points that first year was sure an eye opener, but those eyes would be opened wider when this Warrior team started winning at a regular clip.

Coach Lloyd Fields was entering in the front door for a school that would reach the highest of rarefied air when their 2010 season found themselves on top of the heap in 6-man football.

Fields had started his coaching career in 1969 when he was student teacher at Texarkana, Arkansas.

After a brief stint in the Marine Corp, he once again would come back to coaching in Lufkin as a junior high coach.

His first head coaching job would be in Waco at Richfield High School that is now known as Waco High.

Coach Fields first year at Bracken, fell one game short, of their previous season’s record and with a 1-1 playoff slate.

Meeting the eventual runner-up for State in that season, Rockwall Heritage, to start those playoffs was not a good way to make your mark in your first year.
