The Hawks swept Wimberley Texans, 5-1 which kept Canyon Lake one game ahead of Davenport’s after a win over Boerne.
The Hawk’s Baseball team set the table for that 2nd seed for a post-season run with their win from start to finish against a Texan team that CL had not beaten at their confines since 2010 with a, 5-3 outcome.
Canyon Lake split this week’s contest against Boerne which could play a major role for the final standings and a chance to finish 2nd.
The long ball was needed for the Hawks to win their district series against Davenport in extra innings after Carter Williams jacked a ball over the left field fence scoring 3 runs and a walk off CL victory, 7-4.

District 27-4A Track Meet results had CL Ladies finished scoring 97 points in both the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams this past Thursday.
The top 4 in each varsity event will continue their post-season in an area meet.
Overall, Canyon Lake had the Boys JV with a 3rd place finish scoring 111 points.
For this year’s Varsity, wasn’t a stellar finish in garnering 30 points while just beating out Bandera’s 25 points who finished last.
Layton Hemann was a class act with his 10:31.51 time in the 3200 METER RUN or 40 seconds better than the 2nd place finisher. Hemann was 5 seconds off from his best time this season. That can happen in distance races when a participant is not being pushed by others runners.
Varsity Boys had Alek Villacencio with his personal best, 10:30.65 for a 5th place result. District 27-4A had a plethora of distance runners as Alek finished in 6th place but was still able to time a best ever 1600 meter run beating Hemann’s record set earlier this year by right at 4 seconds, 4:45.83.
Tristan Schenk was able to break that 5 minute barrier which placed has Schenk the 9th best on the All-Time list. Canyon Lake now has all top-ten runners with sub-five minutes for the mile event.

Marshall McConnell had his personal best in the High Jump (6-02) for a 2nd place finish and that moved him up to 6th place on the Hawk’s all-time list. His Coach (Heath McDonough jumped higher while competing at CL, by 2 inches. McConnell’s jump was still 4 inches better than his previous meets.
The Hawks Boys qualified two athletes for the Area Meet as Coby Mickey won the Pole Vault event with a 14 foot vault and will now attempt to make the State Meet for the second year in a row.
The Lake’s Boys Junior Varsity had 15 who scored points being led by Layton Hemann (2 events) and Harris Gilliam (4 events) 14 points.
Connor Donahue was next scoring 13 points. Connor gained his points in two relays (100 & 200) and finished 3rd in the 100 meter dash.

For the Ladies, the Hawks will have a bus load of athletes for their Area Meet headed by Freshman Savanna Olberholtzer who scored 25 points by placing in all 5 events she entered.
“We are excited to have girls in so many events moving on,” Head Girls Track Coach Sami Theurer said. “Now we need to rest, then prepare for the teams we will be meeting at Area.”
Savanna upped her all-time best in the 100 meter dash (12.23) and long jump (18-1.25). Other Hawks in double digits were: Alencia Lentz (17 pts) 1st Pole Vault-100-200-400 relays.
Ayren Lightfoot (13 pts) 2nd 400 dash-200 relay-400 relay
Cadence Patterson (12 pts) 3rd in 3200-1600 runs.
The Hawks mile relay beat their last year mark at the Texas Relays and had a 2nd place finish in district.
Lightfoot, Lentz, Aubrey Avey and Hannah Hammer will be working on a repeat running by qualifying for the State Meet.

For the Girls Junior Varsity, Mia Zabarecencu headed the point parade scoring with 15 points finishing 2nd in her 400 meter dash, 1st with the 4×400 relay, and 4th running in the 2×200 relay.
Haley Petty scored 14 points with a 1st place 300 hurdle and a 4th place finish in the 100 meter hurdles.
Reece Coburn (4×100, 4×400, 300 hurdles) scored 11 points along with Lydia Ross who was the other 1st place finisher in her 100 hurdles and then scoring a point in her 300 hurdles.
14 Junior Varsity Lady Hawks scored points which will bode well for those fast approaching future years.

Canyon Lake started playing like Canyon Lake in their win over Davenport, 11-3 on a short week due to Easter Celebration.
The Hawks finally found a way to beat Fredericksburg as CL salvaged a win with a walk-off sacrifice fly from Hayden Baker scoring Carter Williams in a 12 inning affair, 7-6.
Canyon Lake Baseball loss to Fredericksburg, 8-3 has the Billies winning the series as the Hawks will try to salvage a win this coming Friday at the Hawk Nest.
