                    Go Hawks & Go Fast!

Canyon Lake had a tune-up Track Meet in Wimberley this past Thursday and finished in second place after posting 167 points.

The Lake scored 35 points in the Sprints, 20 for the hurdles, 38 on the distance events and finished with 44 points scored  in the relays.

Counting the Girls JV those distance events totaled 58 points showing the strength for those students taking parti in those longer runs.

Counting both Varsity & Junior Varsity, The Lake had 23 different ladies scoring points that had Sophomore Savanna Olberholtzer (28 pts/5 events) leading the Varsity and Jazlyn Kearney (18 points/3 events) just topping Haley Petty (17 points/3 events) and Zoe O’Neal (17 points/3 events.

                      Let’s Go Hawks!!

O’Neal was the only JV Athlete to finish 1st when she ran a 2:44.42 her 800 meter run.

Caiden Ocanas (10 points) was the other JV Athlete who finished with double figures.

The Lake’s Varsity totaled a first place in 8 events and two athletes (Cadence Patterson and Ayren Lightfoot) were standing on that first place podium in 3 events a piece.

Future University of Houston athlete, Patterson is taking those long distance runs to task as she is now leading the CL All-Time charts in the following.

Freshman Eva Zabarcencu is one of many Lady Hawks breaking the tape at Track Meets this season.

CLake’s mile relay was just off, .59 of a second from taking over last year’s foursome that qualified for State last season. Three in last year’s group returned and Patterson replaced Alencia Lentz who finished 1st Place in this year’s Big 12 Indoor Track Meet for the Baylor Bears in her pole vault specialty.

Avey (300 Meter Hurdles) and Lightfoot (200 & 400 Meter Dash) have now lowered CL’s All-Time marks in those categories.

So many Lady Hawks that continue to have personal bests (pr’s) with each week blazing a new trail on CL’s All-Time lists.

The key will see if these results continue to improve thus showing there are still more records as a possibility as District-Area-Region Meets results in having more entries at this year’s State Meet in Austin.

Hawks Battles Inconsistency in Loss to Boerne

                    Let’s GO HAWKS!!

Canyon Lake Baseball has had an up and down season thus far due in part due to a team that has replaced 9 starters from last year’s group. Based on that circumstance, this season. has a Hawk team that is much younger which leads to uncertainty if it will be 7 innings of consistent or inconsistent play.

This week, The Lake, had two District 27-4A battles with State Ranked Davenport and Boerne.

A convincing win over Davenport (9-2) gave way for an unforgettable loss to Boerne (2-13) during that 2 game stretch.

Two different outcomes can be attributed to consistent outcome followed by an inconsistent game.

                       Let’s Go Hawks!!

Fielding-Batting-Pitching was not in the same ball park compared to that win over Davenport who had been ranked higher than Boerne.

The good news has this year’s version with a better record than that more consistent Hawk team last year at this same time of the season.

Bottom line it was one loss and CL will have several more challenges upcoming with the hope of stringing two or more consistent games in a row and finishing this first of 3 rounds of district contests standing in 2nd place.

Canyon Lake’s one high point was a two-run homer off the bat of Luke Roskin that turned out to be the only damage administered in this affair.

                     Way to GO LAKE!!
Come visit our shop for  Hawk Nation,

Baseball has so many different variables with each game which can add to that uncertainty which puts a magnifying glass on how consistent a team can play that helps with more satisfying battles that can give a team a chance for making the post-season.

A break-even week with two more upcoming battles next week against Wimberley and a Friday home game with Bandera.

Here’s hoping for two consistent battles & Let’s Go Hawks!!
