CL Lady Hawks Basketball are now 3-0 after win over Johnson City in a game played last Friday at the Hawk Nest, 54-19.

Canyon Lake Hawks Finished and won the 14-4A District Title after rushing for two touchdowns in the 4th Quarter to take the game over Taylor, 28-14.
It could be said that the Team Motto for this season was born a year ago when CL could not hold onto a lead that would have had their 1st District Championship as the Taylor Ducks took control of the later part of that contest to win an outright title.

Canyon Lake Lady Hawks go to 2-0 for the year with a defensive win, 40-38 over the Lehman Lobos on Tuesday night.
The Hawks had some reinforcements from the volleyball team, but an overall defensive game is what helped CL stake another win in as many games.
“Our defensive effort was fantastic,” Head Coach Zach Burleson stated. “We made up for a lot with a high level of intensity…..I couldn’t be more pleased from an effort standpoint.”

Canyon Lake cleared their 2nd hurdle on a road for their first district championship after an entertaining, 53-35 win.
“Fredericksburg is much better this year and with our team effort we were able to step up as this is all about ‘Team’,” Head Coach Charley Drum stated. “We had guys ready to play when we had some starters go down and that has been what we have been doing all year…..Experience was the key, as we have had a lot of players starting and that is especially true this season.”

Mountain Valley Mopped up the Billies 7th A squad, 28-0 on Thursday as this game would keep the Hawks in the race for a District Title.

Mountain Valley 7th B Squad made mincemeat out of Fredericksburg after a convincing, 30-8 victory.
This Hawk team would remind the old-timers of the show, Star Trek the Next Generation, when the Borg was taking over worlds and they were often quoted as saying that, ‘Resistance is Futile.’
That was the scene on Thursday at the Hawk Nest as the Billies had no way of keeping this onslaught of yards from being piled up by MV and eventual win.

Canyon Lake Freshman scored the first 30 points in quick fashion and then waited for the clock to expire in a convincing win over the Battlin Bilies, 30-14.
“We played with a smaller group tonight,” Freshman Coach Javier Almanza said. “We played with no excuses and we worked on focusing on our preparation….we had been practicing well and being a scout team for the varsity has really made a difference in our preparation.”
