Softball: Canyon Lake All-Time Stat Leaders
Wednesday, March 26th, 2014Hawks Still Winless in District after Loss to Texans, 10-6
Tuesday, March 25th, 2014CL Hawks continue to struggle offensively in the first few innings and Wimberley takes advantage in their 10-6 win on Tuesday night at the Hawk Diamond.
The Texans jutted out to a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning before CL could answer and that was the template for the rest of the evening. As Wimberley had Canyon Lake playing catch-up for the rest of the game.
“We are not starting like we were earlier this year on offense,” Head Coach John Gallagher said. “We are just not starting when we should.”
Kelsey Ahrens and Alexis Robinson both finished the game with two hits leading CL’s offense.
This Week @ Canyon Lake
Sunday, March 23rd, 2014This Week @ Canyon Lake
The Girl’s Soccer team beat Wimberley again last week to finish 3rd in District 53-4A with a 4-4 record.
That will put them in action this Tuesday in Boerne starting at 6pm. Canyon Lake has a decent chance of continuing this season and this game will be a big win for a Hawk team in any sport.
Go Hawks and bring Boerne’s ‘Champion’ name back home this Tuesday.
Canyon Lake will also be hosting their annual Hawk Relay’s Meet this Thursday as you can see many athletes for CL that have excelled this year as they prepare for the District 27-3A Meet coming in a couple of weeks.
Hawk Softball will be in action against Wimberley at home this Tuesday and will be attempting to get their first District 27-3A win.

Lady Hawks Start offense too Late in Loss to Bandera, 9-8
Saturday, March 22nd, 2014The Lady Hawks started their offense too late in the loss to Bandera this past
Friday night leaving the diamond with a close, 9-8 set back.
Canyon Lake responded with 2 runs in the third inning to cut the Bulldog lead to two runs and then scored a single run in the top of the sixth inning to draw to within a one run deficit, 5-4.
The Hawks could not hold Bandera in the bottom of the 6th inning when the Bulldogs scored 4 runs and raced to that final inning leading, 9-4.
Carly DuBois had four hits with three runs scored and knocked with a triple, the only extra base hit for The Lake.
Brianna Young finished with 3 hits and Alexis Robinson was the other Hawk with multiple hits.
Young was also, johnny on the spot, with 3 rbi in the game. Young is sporting a .473 average and is getting on base with a .586 clip this season.
CL now starts district play with 2 losses and their next game will be Tuesday when Wimberley comes to town.

Hawk’s JV and Varsity Start District Play with Loss
Wednesday, March 19th, 2014Canyon Lake Junior Varsity lost to Fredericksburg in a hard fought and windy affair on
Tuesday night at the Hawk Diamond.
The Hawks were in the lead 8-7 going into the third inning but could only muster one more run for a two run loss.
There was a lot of good fielding and in those first two innings as well as some manufactured runs when both teams settled down for just one run in their last inning of play.
Christine Rider was just getting into her stride needing only six pitches to retire the Billies in their last at bat.
Daniellia Bustamante also helped with her speed scoring two runs after two walks.
Brianna Hemphill pitched in with two hits, runs, and rbi.
Both Hemphill and Bustamante also get some time with the Varstiy.
When asked what goes on when you are playing on two rosters, Bustamante said, “It is hectic but I enjoy it….anyway I can help the team.”
“The Junior Varsity just want to get better and work together more,” Bustamante closed. “This was one of our best games so far this year.”
Third baseban Peyton Tyra also played solid defense helping keep the damage low in this loss.
“We are trying to get better as a team and of course win,” Third Baseman Tyra said.
Tyra had not played the last couple of years and is new to CL and decided to pick a glove back up this season.
“I just wanted to play again,” Tyra deduced. “A lot of us are new and we just want to help each other.”
Canyon Lake is only in their second year of fielding a Junior Varsity and seeing these young athletes hone in on their skills will only enhance a program that is showing signs of becoming a team to be reckoned with.
Tough loss but the positives could be seen and having more opportunities to get playing time this Hawk team.

===================================================
The Hawks started their District 27-3A season on a losing note, when the Fredericksburg Billies jumped on the Hawks and did not let go until they had won going away, 12-5.
“We just did not focus on the game at hand,” Head Coach John Gallagher said. “We looked flat and played flat.”
Canyon Lake has youth with very few seniors and juniors in a daily lineup for the Hawks.
When asked what will need to happen to get through this district season.
“We will have to break everything down again and start over,” Coach Gallagher offered. “We did not show that we were as good as we thought we were.”
Granted this was just the first game of this district campaign and there will be many more games to make some statements throughout this year.
Two freshman players did have decent game.
Short Stop Kat Weber reached base all three times she was at the plate with two hits and a walk.
Weber has been very adept in reaching base this season with several walks and tonight those two hits.
Freshman centerfielder Carly DuBois also reached base with two hits and two runs.
Sophomore Cameron Berger pich-hit for Sophomore Tiare Kacir and responded with a two run double in the final inning.
The ReSporter wanted to give that casual reader an idea of how young this team actually is and seeing that this was the first district game for these athletes and knowing that better times will certainly come.
Hopefully this Friday when Canyon Lake travels to Bandera for a game with the Bulldogs.
This Week @ Canyon Lake
Sunday, March 16th, 2014This Week @ Canyon Lake
After an abbreviated week of sports due to Spring Break, Canyon Lake will start back with abandon this week as all the spring sports start in earnest while those winter/spring sports (Soccer) are at the finish line.
The ReSporter is finding it hard to get Soccer scores to report on and can assume that the game with Wimberley last week had a major impact on the playoffs.
The ReSporter has other issues with a recent trip to Colorado, the computer that has all schedules and everything that involves numbers will not be returned until Monday.
So, This Week @ Canyon Lake will not have some sports schedules recorded until after the Computer makes it back home.
Hawks Finish San Marcos Tourney with a 3-4 record
Saturday, March 15th, 2014The CL Hawks tripled their pleasure on Saturday as their 7 games in two days came to a
close at the San Marcos Softball Tournament.
Canyon Lake finished non-district play with a healthy dose of games as they ready for their opening game this coming Tuesday at home against the Fredericksburg Billies.
In the Hawks game with Socorro, CL had 4 triples, scored three runs in three of their innings, and won the third game of this tournament.
The Hawks deviated from their lineup in this game and reaped some benefits when Alexis Robinson responded with three rbi with her two triples while batting third and not lead off.
Hawks Finish with 2-2 record on First Day of Tourney
Friday, March 14th, 2014Canyon Lake finished their first day of games with a 1-2 record in the San Marcos
Tournament.
The four team pod with CL will go into a Gold, Silver, Bronze and based on the first day record, the Hawks will ascertain a third place finish after suffering two losses to Corpus Christi King and Weimer.
The Hawks did start their day on a good note when they jumped into a strong first inning with Houston St. Agnes winning 7-2.
This tournament’s games had a time limit of 50 minutes and going more than three innings would be a stretch.
Hawks Can’t Hide in Loss to Hyde Park, 6-5
Monday, March 3rd, 2014Canyon Lake came up on the short end in their game with Hyde Park after a three run rally in the bottom of
the sixth inning losing, 6-5.
The Hawks had forged into a two run lead late in this game to see HP come back and take the win.
Alexis Robinson saw her six game winning streak come to an end with this loss. But in this loss Robinson did not have a walk and that helped keep the game within striking or strikeout distance.
In fact, with her 67 pitches, 51 were strikes.
