The Lake was Rising in Hawk’s Win over Crockett, 49-7

Saturday, September 6th, 2025

The # 2 Chris Brown Club took a whole section while Chris performed for his entourage! Way to GO Chris & LAKE!

A bend but don’t break Hawk Defense helped the Lake’s Offense by keeping Austin Crockett at bay until the Home team’s arsenal would take over in this, 49-7 win.

Four of the six Cougar drives reached the Hawk’s side of the field in this game but CL’s defense was able to get key plays with a Ben Parma interception and missed field goal during those opening 2 quarters which was enough to shut out Crockett in that first half for enough time before Lake opened the Offensive Curtain.

The Hawk’s first offensive drive had some misfires after a 43 yard run by Gram Simpson the offense misfired with 4 incomplete passes on that set of downs and CL reaching the Cougars 14 yard line.

Those 4 missed throws would be the last for QB Jace Wheeler on this night by finishing with 11 straight complete passes and 4 touchdowns.

Wheeler spread his wealth around to five different Hawks for 273 yards of real estate.

One pass covered 75 yards when Chris Brown caught a swing pass and burst through a quick opening before racing to the end zone.

Another noteworthy catch was a touchdown throw to Hayes (stretch) Holladay in the back of the end zone where he imitated Mr. Fantastic Four character to pull that ball in for one of those 4 touchdowns through the airwaves.

Gavyn Baldera finished the night on his 18 yard run through a maze of Cougars capping off this win.

Canyon Lake would score on their last six drives for this victory.

A lot of check-offs in this battle and Coaches certainly will work on some kinks but as a whole The Lake was rising with still enough room before the water reaches the spill way.

Canyon Lake will have another home game next Friday when the Navarro Panthers come to the Hawk Nest and a chance to find out which Fantastic Four power will be present this time.

Way to GO LAKE!

Way to Make us Proud Hawks!!

Canyon Lake took their first game of the Comal Clash Tournament after seeing Carter Williams scatter 4 hits while striking out 13 Holliday batters.

The Lake accumulated 12 hits but of those 12 hifi five were hits coming from a Holliday pitcher pegging a Hawk batter.

This Eagle team did score in the first inning to start this game and later in the 5th that drew them to a manageable 3 run deficit, 5-2.

However a trait that The Lake has shown this season is responding and in each of those innings the Hawks scored 2 runs.

Williams unloaded a two-run bomb during the bottom of the 5th frame that had the brass in those carpeted offices at the school roping off all those parking spaces for not wanting cars being pelted.

Since the 2018 season, Canyon Lake, has had a winning record for the first 9 contests. This season is only behind that 2020 season which became the year Wuhan won the District.

Records For First 9 Games:

       W L T Pct
2018 5 4 0 .556
2019 6 2 1 .722

2024 5 3 1 .611
2025 7 1 1 .833

CLake will have a double header Friday with a first pitch at 5:00 and 7:30p and then based on how these games play out a Saturday contest around Noon.

Way to GO HAWKS!!
