Go Hawks Go!!
Canyon Lake’s set-back in their loss to Fredericksburg had one result that The Lake out of the running for a district championship.
If you put the Junior Class as a predominantly varsity team then this will be the first time this group of players have not realized winning a championship starting at Mountain Valley in their 7th Grade season.
On the outside is still seeing some Juniors on the Junior Varsity club and that group has not lost in district play at this writing.
The District 14-4A Standings is below this snap-shot and this will be the group of schools that will be paired up against District 13-4A. Boerne is in the driver’s seat and would have a date with the 4th team in CL’s district.
You can see that the district below is far from settled with two weeks remaining. One thing that can be deduced is knowing Uvalde will probably be the school being knocked out of contention.
Uvalde would needs a Somerset loss to Pleasanton this week and then those two schools would be matched up for a 4th Seed and a date in all probability with Austin LBJ.
Taylor would need to win out abasing Fredericksburg this week and then beat Austin LBJ. So, let’s go ahead and say that the Ducks will not qualify for a spot in the post-season.
Let’s Go Hawks!!
Canyon Lake had a chance for a win but their 3rd quarter doldrums continue to haunt this team. Last year the 4th quarter was the achilles heal but regardless of which quarter that the team goes south the simple fact of playing a 4 quarter game is paramount these next two weeks.
Lampasas has not had a defense this season and will need to outscore teams for wins. CL has had both with a decent offense these past few weeks but turnovers was the culprit last week and the defense did give up some yardage but one score was a pick 6 and other turnovers gave the Billies a short field to score.
Games are looked at with a magnifying glass during this time of the season which will require the Hawks to put their best foot forward as the next two Fridays could go either way.
