The Hawks started the game with a methodical 48 yard drive taking five minutes off the clock and forging to a 8-0 early lead.

This drive was highlighted by a Nick Rivera 26 yard run which set up MV 7A squad on Lago Vista’s 2 yard line.

From there Nelson Madera would score both a touchdown and the extra point run.

The Vikings were not threatening Mountain Valley’s defense as they could only accumulate 13 yards of offense for this game.

In that first half Rivera was a hard luck player as this athlete returned a punt and interception for a touchdown, and both were called back by a penalty.

The punt return happened first when Rivera would run through the Viking players like a pin ball for 51 yards.

Mountain Valley 8th A squad was all over Lago Vista from the get-go, as their shortest offensive play was an eight yard pass to J.T. Greene, as this Viking team is still trying to find their ship after a blowout, 43-0.

A running clock had a better chance of gaining yards on this Hawk defense than this Viking’s offense could muster.

MV was in top form for every facet of this contest, from Special Teams to Offense to Defense, it was all Hawks.

The Vikings average 0.13 yards per carry which would take Lago Vista 76.9230769230769 plays to garner a first down base on that average.

Defensive End Jacob Thomas had one play that he could have taken a handoff, as he was in Lago Vista’s backfield so fast.

“We just went down and dominated them,” Thomas said. “Coaches told us to stay low and we did what they asked.”

Scoring drives were even more impressive. Mountain Valley’s offense had the ball six times and scored on those drives in 10 plays total.

MV 8th ‘A’ Hawks Groundhog Lampasas, 32-6

Tuesday, September 30th, 2014

Lampasas 8th A squad thought that they would just fumble instead of punting in their game with Mountain Valley, as the Hawks finished off this Badger team, 32-6 last Thursday night.

Mountain Valley, still feeling the sting from a loss to Wimberley in their previous outing, would take no prisoners as they marched 62 yards on 7 plays when Jacob Ruff finished the first drive from three yards out.

“We weren’t quite ready from our conditioning (from last week’s Texans game),” Head Coach Brandon Pawelek said. “But we did have a better week of practice.”

“Thinking about that loss last week fueled our win today,” Jacob Ruff would surmise.

The Badgers first two drives were stopped by losing the ball via the fumble. Starting on their 24 yard line, the Badgers, marched off 24 yards with the help of a face mask penalty and then fumbled after a 10 yard gain that would have given Lampasas the ball on their 38 yard line with a new set of downs.

It took Lampasas a little over four minutes to get on the board by driving 78 yards on 9 plays. What happened next would one reason a win for MV would be attained when this Badger team could not get their extra points by running which kept the score, 6-0.

Both defenses then started controlling the game when in that second quarter, MV would only have to cover 23 yards of real estate after holding the Badgers on a fourth down try.

Running Back Wyatt Meckel would break the goal line on a six yard run with five minutes left in the quarter.

Mountain Valley 7th Grade gathering for their first of many after game talks with a score that far exceeds their competition.

Mountain Valley Middle School 7th Grade started their football career with a kick-off return for a touchdown.

Nelson Madera did the damage with a little help from his friends as he found a seam down the right sideline and ran for pay dirt.

“I just thought, ‘I can’t get tackled’,” Madera said while stiff arming this ReSporter. “It was awesome and we just want to get better and never stop trying.”

A little help from a friend came for Madera’s run, when Ethan Slater had a clearing block, that took out two Texans in pursuit and leaving Madera a clear path to the goal line.

“The Coaches teach us everything and it is those little things that helps us to do a good job,” Slater said with conviction. “They (Coaches) want to make sure all the little details are thought about….it was great being able to complete Madera’s run with a block and getting him out of trouble for the TD.”

The ReSporter shares Stats from this Past School Year

Wednesday, May 28th, 2014

The Reporter would like to thank all the many readers that have frequented this website this past year.

The ReSporter would like you to Vault into next year by placing an Ad on this site.

The ReSporter would like you to Vault into next year by placing an Ad on this site.

This has been a very successful year for the website as each month this season had more visits than any previous month since we started four years ago.

The ReSporter had 315 articles this past school year and since starting this quest, The ReSporter, has finished a total of 1,159 posts or articles.

Another way of saying, a lot of stories.

Now it is time for The ReSporter to take a few months off and hopefully come back with enough energy to get another year finished.

Our apologies for these past couple of weeks, The ReSporter, has suffered ‘Burn Out’ much like many of the Seniors have suffered from Senioritis.

With that being said, The ReSporter would like to invite you to think about helping with posting an Ad through this venue.

Since, The ReSporter, likes numbers then chew and calculate how these stats might help your business.

School Year starting August 1 through May 28
Year Visits Pageviews Ave Time Top 3 Cities in Visits
 2013-14 25,334 62,610 3:02 CL-8689/SA-4560/NB-2388

 2011-12 16,142 43,868 2:55 CL-4940/SA-2365/NB-1868

The * for 2010-11 represents just three months as this endeavor started after the basketball season that year, so those numbers will not have the same amount of days you could visit.

This also shows how each year has topped each previous season which should hopefully give you an idea of what might happen this coming school year.

SA and NB for the cities represent San Antonio and New Braunfels. Austin and San Marcos were right behind those two cities giving you an idea of how far this site can reach what you might be needing to sell or get across to your audience.

Thanks once again for showing support for this site and know that an Ad would cost $50 per semester and an extra $35 if you would like to have your Ad placed with articles, which many of you have noticed we started doing this past spring.

The ReSporter would also welcome ideas and thoughts that you might like to see for this upcoming school year.

Be Blessed and enjoy the Summer and tell my Advertisers you saw their Ad on my site…and Congrats to all the Seniors from Bracken and Canyon Lake. You don’t know how much I have enjoyed covering your events these past 4 years.

Mountain Valley Hawks Softball Beat SVMS, 14-1

The Hawks finished their first round of district games with just one loss to Canyon earlier this season, 10-5.

“We are a smaller school,” Head Coach Jacquelyn Scott stated. “We played scared our first time we faced Canyon and had way too many errors, but we were still within one or two runs before they stretched the lead.”

“We are working from now until next Thursday to get ready for Canyon during the next round,” Coach Scott continued. “We are playing good enough to beat them (Canyon).”

Mountain Valley took the winds out of SV after scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the first inning and a dominating pitching performance from Lauren Mentzer.

Christian Dittman Jumping into Canyon Lake Records

The ReSporter would now like to show off the best ever in Track & Field.

This is one of the sports that has had more success through the years. Canyon Lake finished second to Fredericksburg a couple of years and even when they might not have won district, the Hawks could out point most of their district foes at the State Meet.

Case in point was last season when Marisa Ellis won State in the High Jump.

Take a look with their performance mentioned first and then the year that athlete had that time or distance. Also if you see an athlete with Bold Green then you have an opportunity to see them again since they have more years to climb the charts.
