Coaches Corner: Bracken’s Lloyd Fields
The ReSporter: How are you doing?
Coach Fields: “Slightly above average and mellow, actually very mellow.”
The ReSporter: Tell us how your team is doing in preparation for this week’s game?
Coach Fields: “This is probably the best Winston team we have played…We are on the down hill slide for the season.”
The ReSporter: How are your the players doing as they are in the second half of this season?
Coach Fields: “When it (season) is over, it is over and you don’t get another chance, especially for our three seniors. Seniors have the shortest year because there is no more Spring practice and years left to play.”
The ReSporter: How will the end of this season play with just one more home game and now being on a four game road streak?
Coach Fields: “We will even play our first playoff game on the road this season. The only teams that get a home game for the first round is the district champion. So we will be at a neutral site when the playoff season starts. I like playing on the road because there are less distractions for the players.”
The ReSporter: Where does this team compare to past years?
Coach Fields: “We have yet to put a definition on this team, in the past, our team was known by our offensive rushing game or by our defense. This team does not have a moniker put on them yet.”
The ReSporter: How did last week’s game help or hurt, in context to this season?
Coach Fields: “That game with Gustine brought out our short comings…they (the players) had to play a whole bunch and they put in a lot of effort into that game.”
The ReSporter: How do you prepare for the game this Friday as well as being during this time of the year?
Coach Fields: “Try to stay sharp! We are throwing the ball well and I’m surprised on how well we are passing…We will move some players around and try to find some ways to give Eli (Achilles) some rest.”
The ReSporter: Thanks Coach, hope your mellow doesn’t become yellow…and if any of you are old enough to know that song, then sing it to someone today!! Quite rightly…
