District 13-4A Division I Standings & Stats

The real deal started last Friday and there are several teams with a legit shot of finishing on top and that blur will become clearer after this week of games.

Canyon Lake did what needed to be done in beating Marble Falls by 39 points with a good showing on offense and defense. Even CL’s special teams graded above average.

Ending with right at 200 yards passing could be a key to success and with playing a good slew of larger schools might have helped in that Falls victory.

Davenport’s offense had a balanced attack in their win over Taylor. One take-a-way from this game is how much one player controlled that game. Barrett Fallon posted 252 yards rushing and 103 receiving yards.

This player scored 5 touchdowns and touched the ball 50 times. CL will need to stop this player and take advantage of a Wolves’ defense that did not have a good showing. CL had a lot of games that had lots of scoring this season and that might be a formula for a good outcome. Turnovers and a couple of defensive stops might be enough for a good outcome.

Lampasas beat Burnet and this is a school that has decent results on both sides of the ball.

Burnet gets MFalls this week which should be a win while Taylor continues to play two of District 13’s top clubs. A bad 4th quarter of penalties and turnovers helped Davenport take control during that stanza.

Taylor could pose a problem for the Badgers if those mistakes are not rectified.

A fun slate of games with a clearer picture after seeing two games of stats that might help give a better idea of who that top team might be.

One thing we do know is there will be at least two teams at the top of the heap going into week three.
