The Lake’s Volleyball swept through last week’s games with wins over San Marcos and Austin Akins.

Those wins will be followed this week facing Blanco at home this Tuesday and then on the road at Randolph this Friday. Another week for sharping skills for a district that presently has 3 schools (Wimberley 3rd~Kerrville 4th~Davenport 5th) ranked in the Top 10 according to Texas Volleyball Insiders.

Head Coach Daniella Villarreal shared her thoughts, “This week, we take on Blanco and Randolph as we continue to prepare for district play. Each week, we are looking to elevate our game and get 2x better by focusing specifically on two areas that will help us become more successful against our opponents. Our goal is to continue refining the little things so that we are prepared when district play begins on September 22nd.”

On being in such a hard district, “We understand how competitive our district is, and we want to continue elevating our game so that we can consistently play at a high level against every district opponent. We know that success will come down to our ability to execute the little things, make adjustments, and stay consistent.”

On what was learned from last two games, “This past week, our girls did a great job setting the standard by defeating San Marcos and Akins in three sets for both games. I am really proud of the adjustments we’ve made and the individual and team growth I’ve seen from this group. The girls are continuing to push each other, compete, and find ways to get better every week, and that is exactly what we want to see heading into district!”

Undefeated Lake’s Sub-Varsities Volleyball will be in Marble Falls for their Tournament this Thursday and finish on Saturday.

Cross Country continues their run that has been highlighted with another good finish for the Ladies with a 5th place finish last week at Long Creek HS. Two ladies (Eva Zabarcencu & Sophie Eastland) continue with great performances. Zabarcencu finished 3rd and Eastland 4th at that meet.

This week will be a Thursday start in the Canyon Cougar Invitational with a 730am start.

Football had a rude awakening last Friday in their loss to Lago Vista….’They’ say that teams play better in their second contest after seeing what needs more work after those first encounters of the year.

This will be Senior Night for The Lake so come early and see just how much of an improved Hawk team will perform against Valley Creek.
