Lake Spots Billies a Set Before Eventual Sweep, 3-1 & Standings

Canyon Lake spotted Fredericksburg the first set of this battle for a post-season spot and then responded by winning the final 3 sets for a much needed win, 3-1.
Head Coach Daniella Villarreal said, “I was really proud of how our girls reset and responded after the first set. We played a lot harder defensively and more controlled offensively to win sets 2 through 4 to win the match. Kylee Goff and Bella Biasatti had great games, both reaching double digit kills, and Bella having the most digs. Proud of how everyone has stepped it up and come together to keep fighting for a top 4 spot!”
“Tuesday night was a great win to keep us on track of reaching our goal of making playoffs, “ Coach Villarreal said. “We know that each game in our district is a battle, so we have to continue to keep working, improving, and fighting for our spot each day!”

That first set started with both teams with no lead more than 2 points as both squads were tied, 10 all before Fredericksburg was able to get a 3 point rally for some separation by crafting a, 13-10 lead.
A bit later these Billies had their second 3 point rally which would prove to be enough for a first set win, 25-23.
In that second set, The Lake’s defense was able to keep Freddie from any major rallies while the Hawk’s were able to score on 7 of their serves throughout which translated for a, 25-19 tying set.

Unforced errors seemed to be a magic formula in this sweet as CL had 5-7 unforced errors contributing to those conquests. In contrast, CLHS committed 11 unforced miscues during that opening set and loss.
Kylee Goff led this game with 13 kills and followed with 10 kills for Bella Biasatti that was complemented with 4 Hawks that had double digit digs.
Biasatti had her best all round game this season reaching 27 digs while Presley Wheeler and Izzy Fory each finished 19 that was followed having Paisleigh Fahrney with 10 in this win.
A much needed win when you calculate that District 27-4A has three schools who have set up a good resume in one of the best districts in this state which leaves a final spot between The Lake, Bandera and Fredericksburg battling it out.

So, this season’s schedule had these Hawks facing both (Bandera & Fredericksburg) schools in their first 3 matches and with this win giving The Lake an upper hand in their quest.
District 27-4A Standings are below this article as this same type of scenario was accomplished last season when The Lake finished tied for 3rd and placed in the same playoff bracket with Wimberley where they were able to make it to the Region IV Finals round.
That main difference is having Long Creek being replaced with Kerrville which now will present a tighter window for a Bi-District date.
Keep going Strong Lake!
