The Lake Leaves Faucet On in, 48-26 Win Over Billies.

Carter Havoc Stearns pressure Billies QB in Hawk’s, 48-26 Win.

                      Way to Go Lake!

The Lake’s Freshmen took a couple of opening blows but were able to rebound in their,
48-26 win over Fredericksburg to remain undefeated.

This Billie team came into this battle with one loss this year….a one point loss to Wimberley, 20-19. Thus Freddie was able to score on their first two possessions and left the Hawks looking up at a 14 point deficit, 20-6 after the first quarter of play.

Fredericksburg didn’t take long to give several body blows as this Billies’ offense took 8 plays on their opening 76 yard drive. It was the first score against CL’s defense to start a game as these Visitors only needed to convert one 3rd down play~~ needing just 3 yards for that conversion.

The Lake’s first go at it was an anemic 5 plays before a Billie interception and return to CLake’s 24 yard line.

                 Way to GO LAKE!

This next Billie drive took just 4 plays and left the Hawk’s down, 13-0.

That would be the only hiccup tho as Canyon Lake would score on their next 7 possessions but not without more body blows coming from both schools.

It was a QB Coen Vanlandingham 7 yard scamper with 42 seconds left in that opening stanza for Hawk’s first score.

However, thees Billies still packed a punch after their next play culminated for a 70 yard pass which upped Freddie’s lead, 20-6.

The Lake would turn on their faucet for the remainder when  Raiden Williams had one of three explosive plays going 29 yards on a run play now a one score advantage still for Fredericksburg, 20-14.

Now That’s was a Great Game of Hawk’s Hauling!

Then with 24 seconds before halftime Vanlandingham and CL’s offensive line powered over the end zone that tied the score, 20 all.

The second half started with a lot of fireworks seeing running back Isaac Torres taking the rock 76 yards on the first play that would be a Hawk lead that would not be relinquished for the remainder of this contest.

Torres finished this evening just 7 yards short of that 200 barrier on 21 carries.

Fredericksburg would continue their explosive play exhibition on their next time with the ball for a 67 yard pass and run but a missed extra point left The Lake sporting a slim but doable lead, 27-26.

That was when Williams took the kick-off for 82 yards right up the gut of these Billies that gave CL an 8 point advantage, 34-26.

                              GO LAKE!

It would be a failed Billie fourth down on their next drive that left CLake 60 yards from pay dirt.

This drive would take all the wind out of the stadium on an 11 play drive culminating in the 4th stanza and a Torres 3 yard run and, 41-26 lead.

Nash Cason continued his hot play topping 101 yards receiving with his final reception for 34 yards and a Hawk, 48-26 final score.

Fredericksburg’s final drive stalled again….this time when defensive back Jude Abel’s interception squashed any perceived hope for a comeback.

     ‘Hawk’ Proud!

The ReSporter has seen several freshman teams through the years during the middle teens, 2015-16 had two loaded freshman squads back to back that spawned District Championships not only in football but Track & Field and a Final 4 appearance in Soccer.

CL’s 2019 Freshman team produced a District Championship as well as in baseball as this crew had a lot of braun.

This Freshman team is certainly from that same vine but one difference seems to be depth.  One item this season that would graduate this team would be finishing with an undefeated season which was one goal left for those other freshmen squads could not accomplish.

Way to Bounce Back Hawks!
