Canyon Lake’s win over Northeast positioned them for their next two weeks against the top of the district opponents.

There was not much drama in CL’s, 70-6 win but now the Hawks season will be defined against Fredericksburg (3-0 District) first and Kerrville (3-0) in the next two weeks where both battles will be at the Hawk Nest.

In this game, The Lake, did whatever they needed by scoring on a Peyton Vann interception return and a Carson Walker kick-off return for touchdowns.

Offensively, CLHS scored on 8 of their 9 possessions with that unsuccessful drive the result of a fumble.

It was a contest that allowed the Hawks Coaching Staff to get several players on the field in a game that was helped with a running clock starting in the second quarter.

Kobe Halverson had 3 receptions for touchdowns while accumulating 87 yards.

Running Back Colin Armstrong had his first varsity game action and responded with 10 carries for 144 yards of work.

QB Jace Wheeler threw for 150 yards with 4 touchdowns which this Senior a 3 year starter being right at the doorstep of taking over QB Ross Wagliardo who was The Lake’s first quarterback back during the 2008-9 seasons.

Wagliardo still is on top with 308 completions and 559 attempts while Wheeler presently stands with 301 completions on 502 attempts.

                             GO LAKE!

Wheeler has several marks that will be hard to top but throwing 69 touchdowns has this Senior passing  two Hawk QB’s ~~ Wagliardo & Branson Belcher who each finished with 28 touchdowns thrown.

This NE game was a 64 point win with little doubt and an extra day of rest in preparation this being a Thursday kick-off that can help with all those intangibles needed for a run at a district championship.

Next week’s Billies game will need the Hawk Nation to bring a great atmosphere for The Lake and a Win.

Let’s  Go Lake!
