Head Basketball Coach Lucas Chapman
The ReSporter: How low does your turnovers need to be in order to be in games and a chance for wins? You are averaging right at 20 per game after 12 games.
Coach Chapman: “Our goal is to have 15 or less turnovers a game or a 20% turnover rate. Right now we are at a 28% turnover rate, which is way too high. We just have to be more disciplined with the ball and make more crisp passes. That has been our emphasis for a while now, so we will continue to work on it.”
The ReSporter: The team blocks seem to be coming from anyone on the court is that just the athleticism of the team or do you look for match-ups that can give you that type of advantage?
Coach Chapman: “Well we have a lot of size, which always helps. Really we don’t ever talk about blocks. We are more focused on not fouling and taking a charge when we get dribble penetrations, but obviously in certain situations it is nice to have some length and size and get some blocks.” Read the rest here »

Go Hawks

It was the Hawks JV second loss of the year and a exhausting comeback try came up short after reducing the Eagles lead to 5 points in the 4th quarter.
Most of the scoring came from 3 players, Benjamin Rowe (10), Nicolas Rivera (14), and Zachary Griffin (19) points.

Canyon Lake Boy’s Basketball started 0-2 in the Hawk Classic Tournament and ended 2-0 on Saturday to call it even after a very tiring two days of round ball action.

Young Life says Go Hawks
The first game had Canyon Lake on the brink of their first win over the Texans, as the Hawks let a 4 point advantage evaporate in the final minute of play for a disappointing finish and loss, 53-50.
Consolation prize was having the closest game with Wimberley will have to suffice as the Hawks await another chance in January to right this ship.
Jacob Ramirez and Rory Preiss led the Hawks with 14 and 13 points respectfully as CL could not get a larger hole enlarged on the rim for their foul shots that would have increased the lead against the Texans.

Senior Mia Riali delivering the ball for an assist in win over Florence (photo by Karen Holmes)
CL Hawks featured the Seniors in beating Florence on Friday at the Hawk Nest, 51-17.
The fact that Canyon Lake had just two Seniors to feature did not take away from the fireworks in the 34 point victory as Florence was out classed from the get-go. Sarah Russell and Mia Riali had the honors as both players started their career as freshman and will leave a mark for future Hawks.
