Grace Allen, Brookelynn Helmke, Mariah Ellis, and Amber Ramsey Teaming up for the Relays
Canyon Lake will be hosting District 27-3A Track and Field this Wednesday and Friday and The ReSporter will break down each school and event to help in letting fans know what are some don’t miss competition.
This will be a three part series and this is our second part for the Ladies. Today we will go over the Dash Runs and Relays.
The Hawks will have some athletes that have a decent chance of advancing to Regions and especially with the 4×400 Meter Relay where they pulled off one of the best times in this area a couple of weeks ago at the Hawk Relays.
So you know there is speed and now the young ladies will be trying their best with the help of fans coming out to encourage and cheer them on.
Fredericksburg is a team with more depth and that always helps when you are trying to put distance between you and your competitors.
Wimberley also has a pretty strong team in these venues.
The Hawks are presently ranked in Fourth Place if these events were held by just putting best times on paper.
Short Distance (Relays, 100 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Dash, 400 Meter Dash)
1. Fredericksburg 81
2. Wimberley 64
3. Navarro 48
4. Canyon Lake 44
5. Boerne 31
6. Bandera 18

This is the second of a three part series and we will look at the Relays and Dash in this segment.
The Hawks will have some impressive matches and how this Track Team performs will be based on how Jordan Anderson will be used.
This is why they pay Head Track Coach Cody Means the big bucks as he will be in his office late figuring how to run his relays based on each athlete only having three running events that can be performed.

How does Canyon Lake’s Softball team get into playoff contention in this second round?

Senior Vicky Henderson
Well, one thing is for sure would be wins against Wimberley and Bandera first and part of that equation will be this Tuesday when the Hawks meet Bandera.
Canyon Lake has a huge win over Navarro a couple of games ago and that same team beat Bandera in the first round.
Since the Hawks have won their game over Navarro earlier, then that team can help even District 27-3A play. A Navarro sweep over every team but CL will wipe out that sweep from the hands of Fredericksburg.
Yes, Canyon Lake needs help but first off winning every game would make it much easier than getting out a slide rule to figure out what and where as this season gets into the stretch run.

Jordan Anderson Jumping Over the Records
Jordan Anderson will be readying himself for his final District Track Meet this week and this young man has a lot of skins on the wall as one of the best Track Athletes Canyon Lake has had through the last three years.
Anderson has been getting a head up on his District 27-3A opponents for three years now and you know their will be a lot of underclassman that will be glad they will not have to compete against this type of trickster after this season.
Having a heads up also means a hair cut so you can reduce that head wind and have those faster times in those Dash Runs.
Here are results from Anderson’s last three years including his Freshman campaign on Junior Varsity. Notice how many points he has garnered.
Also note that on the relays you divide that event by four teammates, so if your relay finished first those 20 points would equal 5 points for each individual runner.

Infielder Peyton Sipila
The Hawks finally put the Bandera Bulldogs away in a much needed sweep in district play, 7-1 on Friday night.
With each team scoring a run in the first inning, Canyon Lake had a nail driving six run rally in that sixth inning giving the Hawks a lead that would guarantee a sweep of Bandera.
Another good pitching performance from Ryan Hutcheson by allowing just one run on one hit to even his record to 3-3 for the season.
Senior Kyler Huff finished the game off closing out that 7th inning and closing the door and not allowing the Dogs to go outside for anymore play time.
Canyon Lake had bats were alive in this contest finishing with 12 hits and the top four batters in the batting order tied with two a piece.
Bandera is on the bottom of District 27-3A without a win and this game was a must for CL in order to get back into the district race.
A good sign in raising the season batting percentage by 7 points without any strikeouts.

Pitcher Cody Powell
Canyon Lake only needs one more win to sweep the series with Bandera.
This series was a must win for Canyon Lake as a loss would put the Hawks in a hole since Bandera is at the bottom of District 27-3A.
This game was won with the pitching of Cody Powell who recovered after a tough start in his last outing.
Seven strikeouts and giving up just one three hits was just what the doctored ordered as CL was also held to just three hits in this win.
Six errors by the Bulldogs certainly helped at Canyon Lake had six batters reach base by an error on Bandera giving an extra six outs for CL which all but sealed the deal.
