Coach Montgomery: “The boys work very hard in practice, and we have done a good job of ensuring that we do not overtrain. We have to balance their track with their weightlifting.”
The ReSporter: Jaaz McNair improved his Shot Put throw by almost three feet…can you tell us what his technique might have been to improve that much in just one week?
Coach Montgomery: “He has been doing well in practice, and he got off a good throw in Dripping Springs. No real changes in technique.”

Canyon Lake now has a two game winning streak over Fredericksburg. Repeat: The

Center Fielder Mary Caroline Jordan
Hawks have beaten the Billies in two consecutive games.
Not impressed? Missy Romero pitched a no-hitter in the win.
Not impressed? Hawks offense batted around in the lineup, scoring six runs in one inning.
Not Impressed? The No-Hitter had six outs via strikeout, but the DEFENSE played an exceptional game in the outfield as well as the infield.
Not Impressed? Don’t know what else to say, except the trinity for softball was clicking with offense, defense, and pitching and this trifecta could not of happened at a better time.

The ReSporter: Last game against Wimberley was a morale booster, tell The

Canyon Lake Freshman the Future
ReSporter about the game and how the team played against their arch rival?
Coach Jeff Vaughn: “It is always great to end the season on a high note. We talked about this before the game and at half time as well. This game was personal to me. As a coach I always say “We” but that night I told them that “I” want a win. We started this program four years ago with this group of seniors and I told them that “I” want a win…and that “I” expected nothing less from this being their last night! As far as the game goes…we played well, and exceeded my expectations by winning 3-0…With two seniors scoring goals. Annie Jacobs scored our only goal in the first half…then shortly after the second half started she got a straight red card for a suspect tackle…but I was proud that she got a goal. We had to play about 35 minutes with only 10 versus 11…and only up a goal. I changed nothing…the girls kept their feet on the gas and Amanda Pettyjohn (a senior) and Christy Fowler added two more tallies before it was all said and done. I was a proud coach!!!”
