The Warriors finished their first week of practice in pads and the ReSporter did not see any long faces from the Coaching staff.

You get the feeling that the practices have revealed some surprises of some players, leaving a different taste in the collective mouths of the Coaches. Cereal seems to be eggs and ham and now the team will find out if the food is an all-you-can-eat.

Ropes Texas, home to the fighting Eagles, who at the time were number 22 in the state in six man football, and it also was the starting site of a true adventure in sports. The cast of characters; 40 new recruits to Texas High School Football’s TASO group, the West Texas Chapter of the Texas Association of Sports Officials’. Among them was a former star on the grid-iron, at least in his own mind….Me! I had always wanted to officiate football, even when I was playing. It seemed I always had a different opinion of what the “REF’s” were calling in most games I played or participated in. So, I went ahead and took the challenge of becoming a new official. Little did I know the direction it would take me and how enjoyable it would be.

Bracken Christian Practicing for another Ring
The Bracken Christian Warriors will be putting the pads on soon and with that another hurdle will be cleared for the fans that are anxiously awaiting another season of high expectations.
“Practice went well,” Coach Lloyd Fields said. “When we go to pads, then we will see what happens.”
The coaches have been putting in overtime as Coach Fields talked about the accomplishments thus far, “We are in good shape and we already have put in our offense and defense.”
The team will be in good shape based on the last statement, as the practices can be based on more repetition allowing the team to have a much better understanding of all the different facets of the game.

Head Coach Matt Monzingo
The Hawks have started their quest for another successful season this week when 140 boys started and braved the heat in practice.
“We are taking things still very cautiously,” Head Coach Matt Monzingo said. “The practices are going great as we try to get the heat by us.”
Canyon Lake is now in the process to see what type of team they will be as the coaches start the molding of talents.

The Bracken Christian Warriors have started the climb to their second State Championship today.
Last year’s season has now become a distant memory as the morning heat swept this new Warriors team into shape for another Championship run.
“We had a good first day of practice,” Head Coach Lloyd Fields said. “Nobody got hurt.”
Coach Fields is not at his first rodeo and knows all to well on how to prepare a team for another run for the prize. “We won last year because of what we did in August, not what we did in November or December,” Fields reiterated.

Bracken Christian Championship Ring
The Bracken Christian 6-Man Championship season was full of broken records. The season had many memorable moments and the list below are some of the records tabulated by the ReSporter.
Please note the records are sketchy for the first three years, and many records in passing in those years are not noted.
However, you would not be far off in guessing that the chance of the vast majority of the first year’s feats would not be in the same area code from this past season.

Coach Trent Dunavant
The season is at the doorstep and the ReSporter caught up with Coach Trent Dunavant for some more ammo.
Coach Dunavant is the Junior Varsity Head Coach while also helping the Varsity as the Receivers and responsibilities in the Special Team area.
The JV finished on a roll last year and Coach Dunavant let us know how the players would handle the step up.

Josh and Jake Robinson
The ReSporter likes to talk to twins especially since the writer is also a twin. In fact, as soon as it was found that Jake was the second born, the ReSporter sided with him on the interview.
The second born twin need to always stick together.
Josh and Jake Robinson started playing soccer at a young age and did not get into football until their eighth grade year. The twins were everywhere last year playing on the JV squad.

Zach Henshaw and Grady Achillies
The ReSporter continues part two on the Dynamic Duo.
Zach Henshaw and Grady Achilles are the two running backs for Canyon Lake and Bracken Christian respectfully.
The two backs have a decorated career and are now on their final chapter in the High School arena. Both players have helped in taking their team to heights that are significant based on the age of the two programs.

Bobby Flint
Bobby Flint will be off to San Angelo soon with a chance to continue playing football. The Angelo State University Rams will be the new stomping grounds for the recent graduated linebacker off the Canyon Lake team.
Flint will have an ongoing journal of what he has done and will do throughout his first year playing football at the College level.
This journal will be posted so others might take some lessons on what to expect if they take their skills to the next level. The ReSporter hopes you enjoy this feature.
